4/6 update: just when we think things are starting to calm down Dad gets hit with another obstacle. In the beginning of the week Dad had his ventilator removed and was transferred out off the ICCU. He is on a different floor going into his 4th week at the hospital. He still has a feeding tube, and antibiotic spacers in both knees (it will be months before they consider putting knees back in). He is somewhat coherent and in terrible pain. He had been complaining about his arms and shoulders, the doctors looked into it and we found out this morning that the infection is now attacking his wrists. The plan is to hopefully be able to flush out the infection like they did with his knees. He also began swelling badly with fluid again and the doctors are deciding on what steps to take with his kidneys. He is not fully aware what is happening to him and will often ask “what do I got goin on here Linds”. It’s a heart breaking thing to witness and we all thank you again for your kindness, well wishes and support.
