This is the first of many designs we’re making specifically around customer cars, and we had to kick it off with Blake Van Thof and his nasty 427ci N/A solid-roller E92 drift car.

We’re taking preorders now, and we’ll also have shirts with us at Holley LS Fest East!

CUSTOMERS THAT BECOME FRIENDS. 🇺🇸 (READ TO THE END AND SHARE THIS. I PROMISE ITS WORTH IT🤣)

Let me introduce you to my good friends John Placko and his Ben.

John has a 2006 GTO and came to me wanting a little more power than the factory LS2 could provide. Legend has it his exact words were, “I want to go fast before I die.”

I figured with the right engine, I could probably help him accomplish both if he wasn’t careful. 😂

Now, John is a legend among legends. His alleged accomplishments include:

🏆 3x Chinese Checkers World Champion
🃏 Former Guinness World Record holder for longest continuous game of Uno
🪨 2009 Southeast Regional Rock-Skipping Champion
🎳 Once bowled a perfect 300 using only a 9-pound ball
🇺🇸 Former Captain of the U.S. National Dodgeball Reserve Team
🏎️ Former Semi-Professional Indoor Kart Racer
🌭 Former Georgia State Mustard-Free Hot Dog Eating Record Holder

If even half of that is true, John may be the most interesting man in the world.

Anyway… back to horsepower.

We built John a 402ci, 11:1 monster with about every bell and whistle we could throw at it. His instructions were simple:

“If it makes horsepower… ORDER IT!”

John still stops by regularly to hang out, vacuum out machines, grab lunch, or meet me for breakfast on a Saturday before we head to the shop.

Customers come and go. Some become lifelong friends.

Thanks for being you, John. I’m grateful for your friendship, your business, and whatever governing body sanctioned that hot dog record. 😂

Just because they’re brand new doesn’t mean they’re ready to bolt on.

Our friend Jeff Ray brought us this brand-new set of heads to inspect before installing them-and we’re glad he did.

You can clearly see chatter left behind in the valve job from the manufacturer. This is exactly why we recommend having even brand-new cylinder heads checked before they ever make it onto an engine.

We went through these the right way:

✅ Re-cut and corrected the valve job
✅ Surfaced the heads—had to remove .004” to get the decks flat
✅ Cleaned, inspected, and reassembled everything
✅ Set the valvetrain up specifically for the customer’s camshaft specs

New doesn’t always mean ready.

A little extra attention now can save a much bigger problem later.

ANOTHER 416CI BULLET HEADED OUT THE DOOR. 🔥

This one got picked up today and is on its way into a Camaro that’s going to be an absolute riot on the street.

Built at 11.2:1 compression, this combination is designed to run on 93 octane or E85 with a flex fuel setup, giving the owner the best of both worlds—excellent street manners on pump gas and all the extra power E85 has to offer when it’s time to have some fun.

FROM MIDNIGHT IN THE SHOP… TO THE WINNER’S CIRCLE. 🏆🔥

This top-end package was built for our longtime customer, Rocky Salter , and his bed-mounted twin-turbo S10—a truck that’s in a league of its own. We’ve been fortunate to be part of this build from the beginning, and it’s always rewarding to see hard work pay off.

Earlier this year, we built the short block for this combination. Unfortunately, the aftermarket cylinder heads on the engine developed cracks just days before Rocky was scheduled to compete in a no-prep shootout.

There wasn’t time to wait.

We got to work, finished this top-end package, and Rocky picked everything up at midnight on Friday.

He went straight to the shop, worked through the night, bolted everything together, and made it to the race.
