📢 South Carolina Shops Push Back as Safelite Opposes S.0767

👉 For more info: www.iga.org/scadvocacy

Today, South Carolina independent auto glass shops made their voices heard at the Insurance Subcommittee hearing on S.0767, the IGA-backed Model Auto Glass Legislation.

While Safelite sent two representatives , Brett Wanner of Safelite Solutions and Tom Tucker of Safelite Auto Glass, IGA members and independent shops showed up to speak the truth about what is happening in the real world. Shops including Glass Express, Impact Autoglass, and ACE Glass Company stepped forward to provide key testimony and push back against the heavily biased narrative from the opposition.

Safelite’s representatives claimed there are no complaints and no issues. But Trey Black from Glass Express, Inc made it clear that the evidence says otherwise. Through the IGA’s Don’t Get Steered program, along with complaints and filings made to the FTC, DOJ, and numerous state agencies, the record continues to grow.

Opponents representing insurance interests also tried to bring up Florida AOB law talking points, but those arguments do not fit South Carolina policies or the way the glass industry operates in this state.

The good news: independent shops showed up, stood strong, and were heard. The reality: this fight is not over.

Another subcommittee hearing is being planned, and the IGA needs every South Carolina shop to act now. Contact your representatives. Support bill sponsor Senator Russell L. Ott. Reach out to Subcommittee members Senators Bennett, Hutto, Turner, Gambrell, and Kennedy and tell them to take action and support S.0767 this session.

The IGA also needs your support to keep this legislation moving forward and get it signed into law. Safelite and their partners are working to derail this bill, but together we can push them back. Join the IGA today at www.iga.org/membership

South Carolina shops, this is your moment. Stand up. Speak out. Support the fight.
