A diesel Mercedes came in with EGR and airflow-related issues.

Using an inspection camera, we found heavy carbon buildup inside the intake manifold, EGR piping, and related components. While some carbon accumulation is normal on diesel engines, excessive buildup can restrict airflow, reduce performance, and trigger fault codes.

In this case, the deposits were significant enough that the intake system required extensive cleaning. We also found additional components that were better replaced while everything was apart to help prevent future issues.

This is a good reminder that not every engine problem is caused by a failed part. Sometimes the real issue is years of carbon buildup slowly restricting the system.

If your diesel vehicle feels sluggish, has reduced power, or keeps returning airflow and EGR codes, it may be time for a closer inspection.

Customer came in with a Kia complaining about a knocking noise when driving over bumps and while turning.

At first glance, it sounded like a simple suspension noise. But during inspection we found excessive play in the right-side ball joint and worn outer tie rods.

The interesting part? The vehicle had recently had an alignment done.

An alignment can adjust wheel angles, but it can’t fix worn suspension components. If ball joints or tie rods are damaged, the problem will still be there — and can get worse over time.

Common warning signs:
• knocking over bumps
• clunking when turning
• steering feels loose
• uneven tire wear

If your car is making noise, don’t ignore it. Small suspension problems rarely stay small for long.

Sometimes a vehicle comes in with a leak, and the cause turns out to be a single damaged line.

In this case, the culprit was a failed high-pressure line. While the rest of the system was still in good condition, this one component could no longer handle the pressure it was designed for.

The challenge with high-pressure systems is that even a small crack or weak spot can quickly become a major problem.

This Mercedes came to us after the owner noticed starting issues. During inspection, we found a much bigger problem — water inside the cabin.

The cause? A clogged sunroof drain. Water had been collecting under the carpet for a long time, soaking electrical components and causing corrosion.

What starts as a small drainage issue can turn into expensive electrical repairs if ignored.

Buying a car from an auction can save money… or turn into a very expensive surprise.

This Prius came in for an inspection because the customer was worried about possible damage underneath the car. Auctions often move vehicles around with forklifts, and that can bend panels, damage wiring, or even affect suspension components.

We checked:
• underbody condition
• wiring and mounting points
• suspension area
• signs of forklift damage

Good news — only minor cosmetic damage underneath, nothing serious.

That’s why a post-auction inspection matters.
A car can look perfect on top and still hide problems underneath.
