Labor Day means something around here.

West is a working town. Always has been. The folks who walk through our doors are the ones up before the sun — the framers and the farmers, the linemen and the truck drivers, the nurses pulling doubles and the teachers heading into a new school year. This holiday exists because working people fought for it, and we figure the best way to honor that is to let our own team spend it the way it was meant to be spent: at home, with the people they love.

Uptmore Motors will be closed Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7 — Labor Day. We'll be back open at regular hours on Tuesday, September 8.

If you need us before then, come on by — we'll take care of you. Otherwise, enjoy the long weekend. Fire up the grill, find some shade, and take a minute to be proud of the work you do. You've earned it.

In Loving Memory of Lucille Marie Uptmore 1927 – 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the Uptmore family shares the passing of Lucille Uptmore, age 98, of West, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Alongside her husband, Ernest "Big Ern" Uptmore, Lucille helped build and grow Uptmore Motors into what it is today. For decades she kept the books and kept this family business running — a steady hand, a sharp mind, and the heart of everything we are. Her legacy is woven into every part of who we are today.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3rd, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

In her memory, Uptmore Motors will be CLOSED:
🕊️ Friday, July 3rd — for the funeral
🇺🇸 Saturday, July 4th — for Independence Day

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
