Punkin Center Racing These riders are simply following in the footsteps of their fathers in hopes of competing at the highest level.

This team is based out of West Union, WV and is built on all three of these riders dreams of lining up on pro row to compete with the best. The Punkin Center Racing team will be embarking on its first official season in 2021. This group is assembled of three youth riders that age from 5 to 16. All of which made their first appearances on the track last season. This race team prides itself on how i

t represents itself on and most importantly off the track. All three riders will be competing on new machines this season with top of the line components. After having great experience on the track last season all three riders look to excel in their perspective racing classes this year.


“MEET THE RIDERS”


Landon Rogers


Landon is a 6 year old that loves racing as much as spending time with friends and family. He will be piloting his brand new Honda 90 machine in the Mini ATV 50cc 4-stroke class this season. He had great success last year and looks to build on that experience this coming season. Wyatt Gain


Wyatt is a 10 year old and when he’s not racing he’s enjoying the outdoors hunting and fishing. He will be piloting his new Yamaha 125 this year in the Intermediate (8-11) 75-125cc 4-stroke class. Last year Wyatt had success racing a Honda 90 in the First Year Racer 4-stroke class. He is looking for more success on his new machine while moving up into higher class and age group. Zane Weaver

Zane is 17 years old and much like his brother Wyatt, when he’s not on the track he spends his time hunting and fishing. He will be riding his Yamaha 450 this year and will be competing in the C Class for 16-21 year olds. Zane began his racing career last season and looks to build on his success this season on a machine that has been remodeled with new components from the ground up.

Recap of the past two rounds for team rider Wyatt Gain.

April 27th he raced Round 2 of the Mountain State Hare Scramble Series, Maniac Mountain 2.0 in Buckhannon, WV. This was the first race on the new build and anticipation was high. Conditions were just a little bit muddy but he made the best of it. First lap chaos made it interesting but after that he charged to bring home a 5th place finish in class and 11th overall out of 48.

This past weekend we traveled back to Buckhannon, WV for Round 3 Circle J Farm!! Wyatt had a decent start but fell to 7th place after two laps. With two laps to go, he was 1 minute and 30 seconds behind 5th place. He put together a great lap and when he came through to get the white flag he was on the rear bumper of the 5th place rider. About a mile into the last lap he made the pass and was able to hold on to 5th place. Wyatt brought home a solid 5th out of 14 in class and 10th overall out of 50!!

Next round is June 15th in Shinnston, WV.

Round 8 of the Mountain State Hare Scramble Series was another good one for team rider Wyatt Gain . Heavy rain fell in the area late the day before causing some muddy conditions. The race didn’t start as planned as Wyatt’s machine didn’t fire on the line causing him to be dead last heading into the woods. As he entered the woods he immediately started gaining ground making up positions each lap. Heading into the last lap he was sitting in 4th place less than 5 seconds behind 3rd and with less than a mile to go he was able to make the pass and bring home a 3rd in class finish out of 9 and 5th overall out of 38 racers.

Team member Wyatt Gain made the trip to Shinnston, WV for Round 5, Rockwells Farm put on by Mountain State Hare Scramble Series. Track conditions were almost perfect after recieving a little rain in the morning. Wyatt didn’t have a great start to the race and checked in 9th place after the first lap. Competition is always tough but this round being the NRA Qualifier it was a little tougher with some new comers to the class. Wyatt had very consistent lap times and was in 6th place getting the white flag. He made a huge charge on the last lap to make two passes to bring home a top 5 finishing in 4th in class out of 13 and solid 15th out of 46 overall.

This weekend, we went to Buckhannon, WV. Round 4 of the Mountain State Hare Scramble Series was a solid track. We managed to get some rain the night before, causing the micros to have some slick track conditions. Team Rider, Landon Rogers got about a 3rd place start. He did drop back to 5th or so, but managed to put in some killer laps to finish his day on a podium spot of 3rd out of 20 some. Not sure exact number. He also finished at a 10th place finish on the overall. Landon’s progression and what he showed he has the ability to be a contender this year. Keep up the great work and getting better. He would like to thank his parents, his family that supports him at the track, and his sponsors.

Little behind, but May 5th, Round 3 at Mountainstate Hare Scrambles Series was a pure mudder!! Team Rider Landon Rogers got off to a mid pack start. With good line choices, mad his way to 4th or 5th before making it to the woods. Getting stuck for a long period of time before I could get to him about 3/4 mile in got him behind to where he was playing catch up. He was down about 7 minutes after the first lap. After that, his lap times showed vast improvement, running lap times 8 minutes quicker and matching top 2-3 of his class. Just too far behind. Manage to pull off 7th out of 12 and 20th OA out of a field of 40 quads.

Race report for his dad, Brandon Rogers went a lot better. After pulling a holeshot, led laps 1 and 2. Fell back to 2nd for a lap, managed to get the lead on the last lap for a class win and 21 out of 90 or so.

Lot of cleanup after this one.

First time on the quad in a while for Wyatt Gain but he had a heck of day. Mountain State Hare Scramble Series held Round 4 in Buckhannon, WV and they had a great track laid out. Grabbing a decent start rounding the hay bales he swung out wide and passed several racers and took the lead before hitting the woods. After lap one scoring had him in 9th position but not quite sure how. Wyatt put his head down and charged hard getting up to 5th by the end of lap two. He worked his way into 2nd spot and held that spot the final 3 laps. He piloted his Yamaha to a P2 in class out of 14 and 6th overall out of 41 riders.

Race report for Wyatt Gain. Like many others this was the first time on the quad since last fall. Being busy with work, family and school sports Wyatt was racing his back up quad this round.

His race started off great as he pulled the holeshot but about 2 miles or so into the first lap he ran into some trouble and got stuck in a bottleneck and got wrapped up in a grape vine as he tried blazing a trail to get around the other stuck racers. He was there a while and a couple classes behind him got around him. He rode a pretty solid race other than that with fairly consistent lap times but just couldn’t make up the lost time. Next race is in 3 weeks so hoping for a better day.

As always he would like to thank his parents, grandparents and family for coming out to support him and help in the pits.
