Well, here's the latest big news around Strictly Subie. It's not about a Forester, an Outback, or even a WRX. It's that Paul went fishing and GOT THE BIG ONE!!! On Saturday, April 3, Paul Staebler (our owner & service manager) caught what is unofficially the LARGEST walleye caught in Iowa waters. It's 31.5" long and weighed in at 14.52 lbs. on his own scale. State record walleye (caught in 1986) was 30.5" long and 14.50 lbs!! However, it was 30 minutes before Paul could get the fish to an official commercial scale (at Hy-Vee), and by that time, the fish had dried down to 14.35 lbs. So sad! But someday soon, this giant will grace the walls of our workbay (I mean the fish, not Paul). MEANWHILE, during the hours when our head mechanic Parker Smith isn't at Strictly Subie, he's combing Iowa's waterways to see if a bigger one might still be out there...
