Our Professional Tractor Trailer Training Programs are Proficiency Based! Students have the option of training with an automated transmission or using manual transmissions. Interstate has achieved a perfect safety record since the first day of operation, March 7th, 1998. We have policies, procedures, and equipment designed to keep all of our students SAFE!

Before a student ever pulls out of the yard, there's a routine to learn just sitting in the seat: adjusting mirrors, setting the seat, getting familiar with every gauge in reach.

It looks basic, but it's the foundation everything else gets built on.

A typical week of training mixes classroom time, yard practice, and road time, with the balance shifting as students get further along.

Early weeks lean heavier on the classroom and the yard, covering the fundamentals before the stakes go up. Later weeks add more time behind the wheel, on public roads and in traffic, building toward the skills test.

By the time test day comes around, it should feel familiar, not brand new.

Our simulators are one of the things that sets training here apart.

Before students ever get behind the wheel on the road, they spend time in ours, working through different weather conditions and traffic scenarios they might not encounter during yard practice. It's a chance to build judgment and confidence behind the wheel before going on the road.

Shifting a manual transmission in a semi isn't like shifting a car. There's a rhythm to it: matching engine speed, timing the clutch, feeling for the right moment to shift.

It takes repetition, and our students get plenty of hands-on time in the yard before it starts to click.

Thinking about a timeline before you even enroll? Fair question, but here's the honest answer: how long CDL training takes depends on the student, their schedule, and the license.

There's no single answer, and any school promising a CDL in exactly three weeks flat isn't giving you the full picture. We'd rather tell you training time depends on you than sell a timeline we can't back up.

Coupling and uncoupling a trailer looks simple until you're the one doing it.

Lining up the fifth wheel, hooking up air and electrical lines, and checking every connection twice before pulling away. Our students practice it again and again until it becomes second nature.
