Monday morning Harrell’s car tip of the day…
To A/C or not to A/C, that is the question?

Open windows at slow speeds. Use A/C on highways.
Around town, turn your air conditioning off and roll down the windows. “On the highway, open windows create drag at speeds of 40 mph or more, so roll them up and use the air.”

Happy Monday!

Happy Friday everyone! Harrell's auto tip of the day: "Drive evenly. Avoid hard stops.
Quick starts burn gas while hard stops also cost you. Take your foot off the accelerator & coast a bit before stopping for a traffic light or a stop sign."

Fill up when it's cool and before holidays.
Today's money saving tips:
Fill up your vehicle in the morning or evening. Cooler temperatures in the early morning or late evening create less v***r. Also, getting a fill-up three days before a holiday will help you save on the per-gallon price at the pump.

It’s Monday October 29, 2012 and our car care money saving tip of the day is… easy on the air conditioning…

Cooler weather is rolling in so enjoy! Roll down your car's windows and let in the arctic breeze. Using the gas-hogging air conditioning as sparingly as possible will give your car's fuel economy a real boost. Air conditioning can drag down your car's fuel economy by 10 percent to 20 percent.

On days when air conditioning is a must, first try cooling your car the old fashioned way -- rolling down the windows, opening the vents, peeling back the sunroof. You'd be amazed how much hot air you can clear out of your car just by opening up for awhile.
Flipping on the air conditioning full blast as soon as you hop into a hot car is a big waste of gas and money.

Keep in mind, though, that at highway speeds, modern cars are more fuel efficient with the air conditioning on than with the air off and windows down.

Happy Saturday October 27, 2012! The weather is nice with a few wind gusts here and there. Today’s tip of the day is to pay careful attention to any trucks, buses or vehicles towing trailers, as they are among the most susceptible to being blown off course by the wind. Always keep both hands on the wheel to make sure you have as much control as possible. Stay Safe!

It’s Friday October 26, 2012 and today because of Hurricane Sandy it is a wet and windy day in Florida. “When most people think of driving in harsh weather, they may think of snow or ice. While these hazards are serious, driving in heavy winds can be just as dangerous. You may have felt heavy winds threaten to push your car sideways while driving before. When the winds pick up, take care to focus on driving safely. If you’re a habitual one-handed driver (like most of us), drive with both hands during windy conditions to keep more control of the car. Don’t follow anyone too closely, especially tractor-trailers and other vehicles with something in tow. Keep a sharp eye on the vehicles around you, and drive slowly enough to allow plenty of reaction time should the wind topple a trailer or cause a car to swerve.”

Stay Safe on the roads!

It’s Thursday October 25, 2012 and blustery weather is headed for our area today and tomorrow! Our tip of the day?

Check your headlights, fog lamps, signal lights, brake lights including third brake lights. Make sure that they are working properly. During heavy rains when visibility is very low, it is advisable to turn on your lights so that others can see you in the rain. Stay safe!

Windshield wipers. You can extend the life of wiper blades by keeping them clean. Wipe off the rubber edge with a paper towel moistened with glass cleaner, or water and a little dish soap. Wiper blades don't last long. In our tests we've found that six months is about the best you can expect a set of wiper blades to stay in top form
