After retiring from his first career, Jeff decided he wasn't quite ready to sit still. So, almost six years ago, he joined the NBP crew for a“fun job.” 😄

Well, apparently six years of fun is enough because Jeff has officially retired... again!

This time, though, we have a feeling this retirement might actually stick! 😉

Jeff, thank you for spending this time with us, for all the miles, laughs, and stories along the way. We are grateful you chose NBP for your “fun job,” and we’ve certainly enjoyed having you as part of our team.

Now it's time to enjoy sleeping in, spending time with the grandbabies, and doing all the things retirement is supposed to be about!

We had a great time getting together outside of work for our shop picnic! ☀️🍔 We enjoyed a good meal, some swimming, plenty of laughs & stories, and just getting to spend time together away from the shop.

And in a shocking turn of events… everyone declined dessert! 😂 Some were being good and avoiding sugar, while others just aren’t banana fans. 🍌 So, yes, we ended up with plenty of leftover dessert—but honestly, we weren’t exactly upset about that (for all you southerners, it's was Edley's recipe)! 😉

It's Thankful Thursday 💙 This is Eric. If you've been around Northbend Pattern for very long, then you've met him. He's been a steady, dependable part of our team for years, and we're thankful for the person he is every single day.

You don't always get to see what your coworkers are like outside of work... but sometimes people notice and tell you about it.

Recently, someone shared that Eric showed up to a community event with a cooler full of popsicles just to hand them out to the kids (and maybe a few adults too🍦). The line never seemed to end, and this little guy in the picture? Let's just say he may have enjoyed 5 or 6 popsicles by the end of the evening. 🤣🤫 We'll never tell.

That simple act says a lot about Eric. He quietly showed up, served others, bringing smiles and creating them. That's who he is—not just at community events, but here at the shop too.

Eric, we love how you are the kind of person who makes the world a little sweeter (literally). We're grateful for your heart, your willingness to step up, and the joy you bring with you.

Every year, we purchase mulch through the East Central Trojans Football Boosters, and these amazing Trojan Young Life students show up ready to spread it around our shop. It's hard work, and they tackle it with smiles, teamwork, and a willingness to serve.

This year, they went above and beyond by picking up the mulch and delivering it to us before rolling up their sleeves to spread it all.

For these students, this isn't just yard work—it's an opportunity to earn money toward Young Life camp, a week that many former campers call the best week of their lives. We're grateful to play a small part in helping make those experiences possible.

To the Young Life students and football players: thank you for your hard work, positive attitudes, and servant hearts. We appreciate you more than you know, and we're already looking forward to next spring!

Help Build Hope | Part 3: Hope Takes Shape

Build day is always one of our favorite days of the year.

Working together, our team assembled the wall panels that Habitat for Humanity picked up and will soon turn into someone's home. We may not know exactly where this house will be built, but we know it will become a place filled with laughter, milestones, and new beginnings.

We were especially thankful for God's provision. With temperatures reaching 100° the week before, this year's build day brought much more comfortable weather—making for a great day to work together.

After the walls were loaded up, we celebrated with Chick-fil-A and everyone a had well-earned afternoon off.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Help Build Hope project possible. It's an incredible reminder that when people come together to serve, hope is built one board, one wall, and one team member at a time. ❤️🏡

Help Build Hope | Part 2: More Than Building Walls

Before a single wall was assembled, we took a few minutes to remember why we do this.

Our Help Build Hope project manager, Dylan, shared a devotion from the story of Mary and Martha. Martha was busy serving, while Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet. Jesus reminded them that Mary had chosen what mattered most.

That was the perfect reminder for all of us.

Yes, today we're building walls for a future home. But this day isn't really about lumber, nails, or construction. It's about people. It's about serving our neighbors. It's about creating a place where memories will be made, children will grow, and hope can flourish.

We're grateful be a small part of the process and to partner with Help Build Hope and Habitat for Humanity. To be part of something that is so much bigger than ourselves.

Help Build Hope | Part 1: It Starts with the Cut

Every house has to start somewhere.

This year we changed things up and cut all of the lumber just before the build. Thanks to a little planning (and an awesome team!), what used to take nearly 3 hours the night before was finished in just 1 hour.

Sometimes the biggest wins happen long before anyone sees the finished product.

Next we gathered for the build, but today we're thankful for the preparation, teamwork, and willing hands that make it all possible.

Some people collect ribbons. Ashtyn collects early mornings, hard work, dirty boots, and a whole lot of love for her animals.

Every year she takes on her pig projects, and this year she added chickens to the mix. Watching these kids learn responsibility, perseverance, and the value of caring for something beyond themselves is one of our favorite parts of fair season.

The banners and ribbons are exciting, but what makes us most proud is the way Ashtyn cares for her animals and gives every project her best. We love cheering her on and supporting her along the way.
