Sine 1992, All the services provided at Whetzel's Automotive are in place to ensure that our customer's vehicles are fully attended to and can be safely back on the road as soon as possible. These services include air conditioning, batteries, brakes, oil changes, and more intensive services such as engine diagnostics, suspension & align

ments, and tire services. Our ASE certified team can also help guide you toward the right tires for your vehicle as we supply many name brand tires like Michelin, Uniroyal, and BF Goodrich. All our services are covered by the NAPA AutoCare Peace of Mind Warranty on qualifying repairs for 36-months or 36,000 miles depending on what occurs first. In addition, we want to minimize the impact a car repair will have on your schedule, so we offer a free shuttle service to get you to your office or home, though most repairs can be completed the same day. For more intensive long-term services, we will arrange an Enterprise Car Rental for you. If you are in an emergency, Whetzel's Automotive offers towing to get you and your car safely to our shop.

Summer may be winding down, but South Carolina heat isn’t going anywhere just yet.

If your A/C has been struggling to keep up, blowing warmer than it should, or just doesn’t feel like it used to, don’t wait for it to quit completely.

Believe it or not, that’s actually useful information. 😂

That random squeak, occasional vibration, weird smell, warning light that comes and goes, or even “it just feels different” can all be clues when we’re trying to figure out what’s going on.

So when you bring your vehicle in, tell us about the weird stuff. Even if you think it sounds ridiculous.

Sometimes the smallest detail is the one that points us in the right direction.

Everybody worries about their battery in the winter.

August would like a word. 😂

Cold weather gets most of the blame for dead batteries, but summer heat can be pretty rough on them too. High temperatures can speed up the chemical reactions happening inside a battery and contribute to internal wear.

Sometimes a battery takes a beating all summer and you don’t find out until that first cold morning when it finally says, “Yeah… I’m done.”

So if your battery seems a little sluggish right now, don’t assume the heat has nothing to do with it.

Your car isn’t enjoying August any more than the rest of us. 🥵

Ever notice your A/C seems to get its act together once you start driving? 😂

There’s actually a reason for that.

Your A/C system has to get rid of the heat it pulls from inside your vehicle, and airflow across the condenser helps make that happen. When you’re moving down the road, you naturally get a lot more air moving through the front of the vehicle.

Sitting still? Now your cooling fans have to do more of the work.

A little difference can be normal. A BIG difference between “driving” and “sitting at a red light” can be your car’s way of telling you something needs attention.

And in August… you tend to notice pretty quickly. 🥵

People think automotive repair is all engine replacements and major repairs.

Truth is...

Sometimes the entire problem comes down to one little wire hiding where nobody can see it.

Other times, it really is an engine. 😅

That's what makes this job interesting. No two vehicles are the same, and you can't judge a repair by what you see on the surface.

Whether it's a tiny electrical issue or a major repair, every job starts the same way—figuring out what's actually wrong before replacing parts.

Cars have a funny way of keeping us on our toes... and honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

A warning light or strange noise doesn't always point to the part that's causing the issue.

Taking the time to find the root cause helps make sure the repair is done right the first time, can help avoid unnecessary repairs, and may even save you money.
