Gary Passamore — That Detail Guy — is BACK on The Corner!
Gary first joined us on Curmudgeon’s Corner #69, but tonight we’re not reintroducing him. We’re picking up where we left off — and Gary is coming in FIRED UP.
Gary Passamore, better known as That Detail Guy, is the owner of That Detail Shop, a Navy veteran, entrepreneur, content creator, and one of the strongest voices in the detailing community.
Tonight, we’re pulling back the curtain on something everybody in this industry seems to have an opinion about:
 PRIVATE LABELING.
What does “private label” actually mean?
Who really manufactures the chemicals behind detailing brands? What’s the difference between an off-the-shelf formula, a modified formula, and truly custom chemistry? Who owns the formula? What do manufacturers, blenders, distributors, and brands actually contribute?
And most importantly:
Is there anything inherently wrong with private labeling — or does the problem start when companies aren’t honest about what they’re actually doing?
Gary wants to talk about it.
So do I.
But there’s another conversation we need to have tonight.
RAGE BAIT. CALLOUT CULTURE. AND THE BUSINESS OF BEING PI**ED OFF.
A controversial video dropped this week throwing shade at a number of people in this industry — including me.
And my response?
I just don’t care.
That person doesn’t know me.
They don’t know my process.
They don’t know what goes into Phoenix E.O.D.
And their opinion doesn't change what I’m building.
If you like me — great.
If you like Phoenix products — great.
If you don’t?
That’s okay too.
But when somebody has a platform, they make a choice about what they do with it.
You can educate people. Help people. Raise people up. Build a community.
Or you can make people angry because outrage generates clicks, views, engagement — and money.
Gary and I connected two years ago at SEMA largely because we discovered we shared the same philosophy about helping other people win.
So tonight we're going to ask:
When does legitimate criticism become rage bait?
When does “calling out bulls**t” become a business model?
And would we rather build our own s**t — or make content talking about everybody else building theirs?
No response video.
No internet feud.
No names necessary.
Just two guys having a conversation about business, transparency, influence, authenticity, and being perfectly comfortable doing your own damn thing.

 ONE MORE THING…
The jokes stop here.
If you're struggling tonight, please don't convince yourself that nobody would understand, nobody would care, or the world would somehow be better without you in it.
