Be honest... how long do you wait before getting a check engine light looked at?
We hear everything from "I called my mechanic immediately" to "I figured if it was important, the light would get brighter."
The truth? A check engine light can mean anything from a loose gas cap to a problem that could lead to bigger (and more expensive) repairs if ignored.
If it's flashing, that's usually a sign to stop driving and have it checked as soon as possible. If it's solid, you may still be able to drive for a short time, but it's worth getting diagnosed before a small issue turns into a bigger one.
