We would like to thank each and every one of you who came out and supported the Karl Chevrolet Hamilton County Speedway this past Saturday night. The grandstand crowd was solid. We didn't quite reach our goal, but it was great to see people in the the stands to watch some exciting racing action.
I still don't understand why some drivers choose to race for less money at other places, but to each their own. Racing is not getting any cheaper for sure.
The USRA Stock Cars answered the call and brought 19 cars to race for the top payout of the night. Myles Michehl took the $800 winner's check back to Fort Dodge while Chance Larson charged from the 11th starting spot to finish second and collect $525. The remainder of the payout was impressive as well: $400, $300, $250, $200, $175, $150, $140, $130, $125, $120, $115, $110, $105, and $100 to start.
The next-highest car count belonged to the Hobby Stocks with 11 cars. While we were hoping for more cars considering the payout, the drivers who came were certainly happy. Riley Crimmins took home the $600 winner's share back to Fort Dodge while Jeremy Wegner earned $425 for second. The rest of the field received $300, $250, $200, $175, $150, $140, $130, $120, and $110 for 11th place. Did anyone else make $110 for 11th place this weekend in the Hobby Stock Class.
One of the coolest moments of the night came in the USRA Modified division. Greg Elliott put his IMCA Modified with a crate motor in Victory Lane and collected the $1,000 payday. Greg added a spoiler to his car, took the lead from Jason Hahne, and never looked back. It was an emotional victory lane celebration as Greg and Steve Daniels shared a long friendship. For everyone who says you can't win with a crate motor, Greg proved otherwise. With seven Modifieds on hand, Robert Bennett collected $225 for finishing seventh which is a great payout.
Ty Griffith captured the USRA B-Mod feature while John Berg picked up the Crown Vic victory and the $200 winner's check.
Once again, thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event. We are already looking forward to the Flaws Bros Memorial Race on June 20. This will be the next event at the Karl Chevrolet Hamilton County Speedway.
If you are interested in sponsoring this special event, we have some ambitious goals. For the Iron Man Stock Cars, if we can raise an additional $3,700 in sponsorships, we will increase the purse to $2,000 to win and $300 to start. If we can reach $5,100 in sponsorships, we will raise the starting money to an incredible $400 just to start the A-Main.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the Flaws Bros Memorial can contact Chace Pruismann, Larry Flaws, or call the Speedway office and speak with Janet.
The Iron Man Stock Cars will have a chance to race for some outstanding money that weekend:
• Friday at Fayette County Speedway - $1,500 to win
• Saturday at Hamilton County Speedway - Flaws Bros Memorial
• Sunday at Mason City Motor Speedway for the Joel Showalter Memorial - $3,000 to win and $500 to start
The Hobby Stocks will also have a big weekend:
• Saturday at Hamilton County Speedway - $700 to win and $100 to start
• Sunday at Mason City Motor Speedway - $1,000 to win and $130 to start
Let's keep building something special and make the Flaws Bros Memorial one of the biggest races of the season.
Thanks Todd
