It turns out the insurance business is even more polluted than the automotive business. I had 2 cars that were involved in a fire offsite on June 23rd. Just found out today 9/17/24 that Century Surety Company (Westerville, OH) will only be paying the 10296.92 that they sent to my vehicle floor plan company to pay off the one vehicle that was totaled. My insurance agent implied that they made it seem like I was "lucky" to even get that. Mind you, the totaled vehicle was valued at 20255.17 (per their appraisal estimate). The other vehicle damage was estimated at 6807.75 (per their appraisal estimate). See, they sent out checks for the remainder of the value of the first vehicle, and the 6807.75 for the second. Conveniently they put the wrong address on the envelopes, so they were returned back to Century. Oh..... I forgot to mention, from before the time of my claim until the time of those checks returning, their entire computer system was "down". Once the systems finally came back online, they discovered that for some reason, someone had unchecked the "comprehensive" portion of my policy, so I had no comprehensive coverage during that period.....even though I have certificate of insurance's to both of my floor plan companies stating otherwise. Now keep in mind, I never asked for comprehensive to be removed, as it is REQUIRED in order for me to do business. When I am paying 6685.00 a year for a policy, you'd assume it covers you. RT Specialty underwrote my policy who then sent it to Century.
I want to send out the most sarcastic THANK YOU to RT Specialty and Century Surety Company. Due to your "clerical" error, you may have single handedly put me out of business. I am sure 16,766 (the remaining money they are refusing to pay me) is nothing to your company, but it is EVERYTHING to mine.
