I had one of those little reminders today of why I care so much about how people are treated.

I was at the grocery store and had two interactions where there was just… nothing. No eye contact, no conversation, no personality. And I left thinking, this is exactly why I do things differently at D’Avico’s.

When you come into my shop, I’m going to look you in the eye. I’m going to talk to you like a person. I’m going to explain what your car needs, why it needs it, what can wait and what actually matters right now.

Because nobody wants to feel like a number, especially when you’re spending your hard-earned money.

Also, don’t ask me why I cook ground meat and rice for my dog every night or why my hair looks like this. It’s been up all day and this is what we’re working with.

Apparently this is when I do my best thinking.

A tire leak over something silly? No thanks.

Justin showing Maddox why we clean the rim properly before mounting the tire. Corrosion and buildup around the sealing surface can keep the tire from sealing correctly and cause a slow leak later.

It takes a few extra minutes now, but it saves everyone from dealing with an annoying comeback later.

The little things matter.

Buying a used car? Don’t fall in love with it until you know what you’re actually buying.

A pre-purchase inspection can uncover worn-out parts, leaks, safety issues, upcoming maintenance, or thousands of dollars in repairs you weren’t expecting.

Spending a little to have the car checked before you buy it can save you a lot afterward.

Make sure you get the car checked over before you buy anything.

Cybertruck: nah, let’s get all four involved. 😂

Sherri keeping everybody, everything, and probably me together.

She’s the person behind the scenes making sure customers are taken care of, cars are moving, schedules stay organized, the phones get answered, and the million little things that come up every day actually get handled.

She also helps guide customers through their service recommendations, answers questions, explains what matters now and what can wait, and makes sure people feel comfortable with the plan for their car.

A lot of what makes D’Avico’s run smoothly comes back to her, and I don’t say that enough.

And Bohdi? Right under the desk, providing moral support.

It’s not just about mounting the tire.

Justin is showing Maddox why we clean the corrosion off the rim first, so the tire has a clean surface to seal against.

These are the little steps that matter. Taking the extra few minutes, doing it correctly, and teaching the next person why it matters.

That’s how good technicians are built.

Then I point out Jimmy and his reddish-pink beard and apparently that was where the fun ended.

Just a reminder that D’Avico’s Auto Repair will be closed Friday through Monday for Labor Day weekend.
