Another installment in our Pete’s Automotive action figure series. Meet Jaxson Peterson.

Jaxson first came to Pete’s as an intern while attending Red Oak High School’s Automotive Service program. He recently graduated, but we were lucky enough to keep him around as an Automotive Technician until he heads off to join the U.S. Air Force this fall.

A few things you should know about Jaxson. Honda is his favorite vehicle to work on, spaghetti and pretty much any Italian food will get his attention, and he has two standard poodles waiting for him at home. Long term, he hopes to work in law enforcement.

We’re glad his internship turned into a little more time with our crew, and we’re looking forward to seeing where life takes him next.

And yes, the poodles and spaghetti had to make it into his action figure. 😅

Employee Spotlight: Mike Martin

If you’ve had tires done at Pete’s, there’s a good chance Mike Martin had something to do with them.

Mike has been in the tire business for 30 years and has spent the last 14 of those years here at Pete’s. Tires are his specialty, and after three decades, it’s safe to say he knows his way around them.

Mike’s history with Pete goes back even further. He’s known Pete for about 30 years, and one of his first jobs was actually working for Pete all those years ago. Pete’s uncle Gary, who still works here today, helped teach Mike the trade.

When we asked Mike what has kept him around, his answer was pretty simple.

“Pete’s always done me good.”

Outside of work, Mike is dad to two kids, ages 13 and 14.

We’re grateful to have someone with Mike’s experience and history as part of the Pete’s Automotive crew.

Happy National Dog Day from Pete’s Automotive. 🐾

We’re pretty big dog people around here, and we know plenty of our customers are too.

Pete and Candice have spent a lot of years at Pete’s Automotive. Apparently that was enough to finally unlock their video game characters. 😂

The real version involves fewer gold coins and a whole lot more cars.

You may have heard of “girl dinner,” but this is giving more “guy dinner.”

Or, as we call it at the shop, Pete’s Smorgasbord. A bunch of random dishes that probably have no business sharing the same table, but somehow it works.

Fish sticks, taquitos, fries, meatballs, chips. We’re not sure what the overarching theme was for Thursday’s free team lunch, but the crew didn’t seem too concerned about it.

Sometimes the theme is just food. 😅

We’re grateful for such a good team and for the chance to sit down together, eat well, and enjoy each other’s company during the week.

Nominations for Best of Ellis County are open August 15 through August 30, and we would genuinely love to make it to the second round.

Why does it matter so much to us?

Pete’s Automotive is a local, family run shop. We come to work every day knowing that when someone hands us their keys, they are trusting us with more than a vehicle. That car gets someone to work, gets kids to school, makes family trips possible, and keeps everyday life moving.

We’ve worked hard to build a shop where people can expect honest answers, quality work, clear communication, and mechanics who are willing to help each other get the job done right. Having our community nominate us would mean that effort is being felt on the other side of the counter.

And that would mean a whole lot to our team.
