This week I tackle new tires, wheel bearings, drum brake service, and a bunch of the little details that help transform an old motorcycle back into something you can actually ride and enjoy.

After tearing this 1976 Honda MT125 apart, replacing the bad crank seal, and rebuilding the top end, it was finally time to see if the bike would run again.

We ran into a couple carburetor and idle issues during startup, but hearing this old 2-stroke fire back up was a huge moment.

After hearing engine noise on this 1976 Honda MT125, it was time to dig deeper.

We pulled the cylinder, inspected the piston and cylinder walls, replaced a bad crankshaft seal, and started figuring out if this engine is worth continuing.

This is the part where you find out what you’re really dealing with.

This 1976 Honda MT125 came in with a rattle in the engine.

Before tearing into a vintage 2-stroke, I wanted to know exactly what was wrong — so we inspected the top end and pressure tested the crank seals to see if the engine needed to come apart.

We found one bad seal… but there’s more to this one.

In the last video, I figured out this Valkyrie was running lean.

This time, we fix it.

I go through the jetting changes, put everything back together, and verify it with a test ride and plug reading.

No guessing — just a process that works.

This Valkyrie wasn’t running right. Spittng, popping and backfire at midrange so I had to figure out if it was running rich or lean.

Instead of guessing, I walked through a step-by-step process to actually pinpoint what the engine was doing and what it needs.

You can use the method of testing on practically any modern carbureted motorcycle.
