We shouldn't have to be doing this but honestly some of you need a hobby (we know a few people who can tell you where to find a project car).
For all of you who are calling us names due to a recent post thank you. Our following is up by over 100 our engagement rate is higher than facbook's average and you let everyone know that you need validation for not supporting one of the last events that our community has.
We are a group of volunteers, we put hours into this, we welcome everyone, we stick up for Cruisers who feel they don't belong, we encourage every single person who has any interest in any vehicle to pursue that interest and bring it up to Cruise Night. We have watched project cars go from being brought up on a trailer because it only had a partial engine to being full blown track cars. We are told multiple times every season that we are one of the most welcoming shows in the area.
I'm sure that since you find it unclassy or stupid to participate in playful banter that you have never picked on a friend for something they wore or a team they cheered for or liking a certain food. But it is common to do so. The truck guys pick on the jeep guys, the muscle cars pick on the tuners, the Chevy guys pick on the Ford guys, the Ford guys pick on the Dodge guys pick on the Chevy guys heck I've even heard someone who brought a tractor up tell someone that their car may be faster, but it wouldn't be able to keep up with the tractor in a field.
I've heard cybertruck owners criticize their own vehicles, I've seen one with a stuffed racoon on the dash. I've driven one and they are actually pretty cool.
The negativity, the intention to be hurtful, the fact that you want to criticize something that you "haven't been to in years" is what should be embarrassing.
I was told to "do better". And everyday, every Cruise night, every other event or group that we help with I try. I know that part of the reason some of the other events do not happen anymore is because they got tired of hearing people complain, criticize and put them down with out offering a viable solution.
You don't have to volunteer or sponsor or go to events to support your community if you cant or dont want to, but you should not try to tear those things apart either.
For all of the car people reading this thank you, for your support, for your kind words and for showing up and picking on each other in the spirit of true friendship, trust and good intentions.
Cybertrucks - you are welcome to come to Wauseon Cruise Night always have been always will be. Maybe you can pick on the gas guzzlers 😉
We appreciate all of you. If you havent been to a Cruise in a few seasons stop up, go to a local business while you are in town, try one of the yummy food options available downtown and get to know somone new. Hopefully the weather will be better for June so we can have our usual several hundred vehicles.
