Red filter is good for 5000 miles Blue Filter is good for 10,000 miles and the new extended life Black filter is good for 20,000 miles. Do Tires harden as they age? Yes but maybe not as much as you might think. At Clark Tire Pros we like to know these kind of things. Using a durometer and measuring in shore A scale a new tire is about 54 hardness. A seven year old tire comes in at about 57. A twelve year old tire comes in at a much harder 67. Doing similar testing on passenger tires has not shown much difference in average 3 to 4 year old tires. Probably not scientific information but certainly better than speculation
