Do Tires harden as they age? Yes but maybe not as much as you might think. At Clark Tire Pros we like to know these kind of things. Using a durometer and measuring in shore A scale a new tire is about 54 hardness. A seven year old tire comes in at about 57. A twelve year old tire comes in at a much harder 67. Doing similar testing on passenger tires has not shown much difference in average 3 to 4 year old tires. Probably not scientific information but certainly better than speculation
