⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DynoJet 3-Day Tuning Course: Worth Every Mile, Every Minute, Every Dollar
I’ve been tuning motorcycles longer than some techs have been alive. In fact, I bought the first Dyno in the state of Maine back in 1989—starting with the Model 100, upgrading to the 150, and recently investing in the 250i load-control system. I’ve seen the entire evolution of tuning, from carburetor finesse to today’s highly interconnected, software-driven machines.
Because modern motorcycles rely so heavily on integrated electronic systems—and because a single calibration misstep can throw the whole thing off—I decided it was time to sharpen my skills with DynoJet’s 3-day training course. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if a class could offer anything new after decades in the field.
After talking with Ashton Carr and Tyler Boody from DynoJet, I took the leap, booked the trip, and began the long haul from Maine to Montana. A brutal winter storm cancelled flights left and right—I ended up being the only student who made it.
And that turned out to be the best possible outcome.
I received one-on-one training with Russ Fullen, DynoJet’s Calibration and Testing Manager—a guy with deep real-world experience, from Harley tuning to the King of the Baggers series. His knowledge is encyclopedic, practical, and delivered with the kind of clarity only someone who truly knows their craft can provide.
DynoJet put three late-model bikes at my disposal:
• A 131 with variable valve timing
• A 2023 CVO 121 ST
• A 117 Standard
Over three intensive days, we dove into load-based tuning, calibration development, log review, knock control strategies, advanced closed-loop optimization, VE table refinement, and the newer Gen 2 ECU data tables. I filled 29 pages of notes—and every line was worth writing.
When Russ says, “Knowledge is power,” he isn’t kidding. I walked in with decades of experience and still walked out with a sharper understanding of DynoJet’s products, functions, and capabilities than I’ve ever had.
On the long drive home, I found myself reflecting not just on the technical training but on the team dynamic and genuine camaraderie at DynoJet. These people love what they do—and it shows.
This course was absolutely worth the investment. They even managed to teach this old dog some new tricks—and that’s saying something.
Thank you, DynoJet, for an incredible experience,
David Lefebvre
