Conventional, Synthetic Blend, or Full Synthetic?

We at Forster's would like you to understand what you are actually getting. Many people do not understand the difference between these three basic grades of oil. People commonly believe their vehicle takes 5w20, 5w20, 10w30, 0w20, or even 15w40... However, these are not types of oil, they simply represent the "weight" or viscosity of the oil (how thick the oil is). It is also a common MYTH that once you put a synthetic oil in your vehicle, you cannot switch back to conventional oils.

Conventional: These are usually lower end oils. They represent oils that are pumped from the ground and then refined to meet automotive lubrication standards. These oils do not include any man-made additives (synthetics). Most commonly these oils have a life of 3,000 miles.

Synthetic Blends: Also known as semi-synthetic, these oils represent conventional oils which have been infused with man-made additives that help reduce friction, reduce sludge, reduce or prevent dry starts, and many other preventative measures. Most commonly these oils have a life of 5,000 miles.

Full Synthetic: By far the best oils available. These oils represent the future of the automotive industry. Car manufacturer's are beginning to require minimum standards of oil in order to maintain lease agreements and warranties. These oils are completely man-made, and have the most superior protectants. While conventional oils get very thick with cold weather, making your engine work harder or get very thin once the engine is hot, leading to less lubrication, synthetic oils tend to maintain their original specified thickness much better. These oils are by far superior to the other choices. Most commonly these oils have a life of 6,000+ miles.
