"Gov. Larry Hogan of Maryland announced this morning that all non-essential business will be closed statewide as of 5 p.m. According to The Baltimore Sun, Gov. Hogan's executive order will follow the federal guidelines around "essential" businesses, which include auto repair facilities."

WANADA's Automotive Dealer Education Institute held its bi-annual luncheon today at the Montgomery College's Institute for Technical Education in Rockville, thanking students, mentors, and auto-dealer sponsors for their continued support of the program, which places high school graduates on a path to a fulfilling career as an automotive technician.

Warren Brown, 70, the longtime automotive reporter for The Washington Post, passed away earlier this week. All of us at WANADA will miss him.

He wrote a book about the donated kidney that he received from a colleague.

Three regional auto retailers were honored this week by Automotive News as part of their “40 Under 40 Retail” feature, honoring sales executives from dealerships around the country. Jarryd Carver of Sheehy Automotive Group, Alison Cohen of Priority 1 Automotive Group, and Christopher Berlin of Ferrari-Maserati of Washington all were featured for their hard work helping their dealerships increase profits and growth. While all three took different paths to career success, they all have established themselves as leaders in their field, with many bright years ahead of them.

Earlier today the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) had an enforcement sweep in 20 cities throughout the United States, where they checked used cars for an up-to-date Used Car Buyers Guide. Approximately 30 percent of the used car inventory at the targeted stores did not have the guide. Obviously those stores are not happy.

We encourage you to remind your managers that this guide is mandatory, and the FTC will continue using enforcement sweeps for the foreseeable future.
