I’m back! It has been a while since I have made a post about jobs running through the shop, but it has been pretty busy still which is great! I took a few weeks off this summer to finish up my personal truck I’ve been building for the past 3 years, it has since been completed and will be the new “company truck” for me 😎 a 2000 classic crew cab short bed k2500 lb7 duramax swapped zf-6 speed manual! Should work out great for anything I may need to do! Now, time for jobs that have ran through the shop!
First job was a rather rough fiberglass hood for a 3rd gen Camaro! I was told the hoods were hard to get at the time, and had a big lead time from the manufacturer. No big deal, just had to spend some extra time making this thing nice again, before that new color went on! Hood had some damage on the front end from being dropped I can assume, so that was addressed along with many many nicks and chips throughout. Hood was sanded down thoroughly, repaired, and primed with a high build epoxy that has excellent adhesion to fiberglass. Hood was then blocked flat, few tiny spots addressed, and re-primed with standard 2k primer. Hood was then blocked and prepped for paint, followed up with new color and stripes that mimicked what was on it when it showed up! Extremely happy with the outcome! Thanks Mike!
Next was a quick fender repair for a friends semi that got damaged from a trailer he didn’t normally pull grazing the top of both front fender tubs. Fenders were cleaned up, sanded down in the damaged areas, and primed with a high build epoxy to lock it down. Fenders were then sanded and prepped out, color was blended on repaired areas, and re-cleared! Always love painting this color purple for him 💪🏻 thanks David!
Next up was a fun one! Good buddie of mines slick L5p duramax got some paint match love! Mirrors, tailgate handle, grill, headlights, hood scoop, rear bumper and front bumper all got some love! This truck was a chrome trim truck when he got it, and he got lucky to find a guy to swap front ends with, so we had paintable parts to start with! I will never recommend painting chrome on a vehicle, no way to gurantee it to last. All parts were disassembled, cleaned and prepped, raw plastic was cleaned multiple times, 3 step plastic prepped, and primed. Front bumper was essentially stripped, sensor holes welded up being his truck didn’t have front bumper sensors, and primed. All parts were then sanded and prepped, loaded into the booth and cleaned, sealed painted and cleared! Look at that outcome 😎 Thanks Andrew!
Up next was another fun job for a great customer, and friend! I did these fender tubs new for John at the time a little over a year ago. His rig is definitely a super sharp, clean rig, but it goes through every season every year! They had some wear and tear on the front of them from road debris, a gouge up top from a trailer getting into them, and other areas he wanted addressed to make them look new again! It’s always fun trying to figure out how to do multiple color repairs like this, while leaving as much of the original material as possible to retain that “untouched” look. Damaged areas were stripped to original substrate and primed. After that, it was time to start striping! All 3 colors were brought back to just how they were, followed up by all new clear on complete fender tubs to lock it all down again! Always love seeing custom fenders like this just after paint💪🏻 hard to beat. Thanks John!
Next up was a set of fiberglass tank fairings for an old international binder! Original steps were destroyed from deer hits and millions of miles over the road. Customer got lucky and found the last set around at an international dealership, so I got them here, cleaned up, trimmed to fit the truck, and refinished in that factory red 😎(forgot to take a picture) Thanks Dave!
This next one was a fun one to be a part of! I’m an obs Chevy lover at heart, I think they’re the coolest trucks out there! This was yet another rare one! A 2000 classic crew cab short bed dually! This one was involved in a little “whoops” accident, but it turned out great! Truck slid off 2 post lift arms while some maintenance was getting done, but luckily damage was minimal for what it could have been! So it was brought in, taken apart and repaired very nicely! All the metal came back very well! Color was extremely hard to match on this one, but the color I found worked out very well! While it was here, some color matched oe mirrors were painted and installed as well. Perfect fit! Thanks Neil!
Did a quick prep and paint on a new bumper for a 6.7 power stroke in this super cool color bronze fire! 🔥
Also had a quick color match job on a 2022 f250 xlt. Handles and mirror caps were taken from textured black plastic, to painted to match white. Little touches like this make a truck look completely different! Thanks Jacob
Last but not least, another f250 in one of the coolest factory colors! Silver spruce 👌🏻 buddie of mine bought this truck after months of searching for this exact color (1 year color). Truck needed a tailgate due to damage on the original one. He found a new takeoff brand new tailgate in the next model year up design. Few new pieces had to be bought due to slight differences in design, but it turned out great! Inside was bedlined, outside was cleaned up and prepped for paint, tailgate handle bezel was primed so it could be painted, and a set of mud flaps were prepped for paint as well! It turned out super cool 😎 Thanks Taylor!
Sorry for the long post, and months of no content, been a little crazy around here. Thanks for you all for the continued support! More to come 💪🏻
