Life is one crazy roller coaster.
There are so many nerve racking uphill climbs up to peaceful, beautiful peaks with views of the whole world. There’s fast turbulent drops that sometimes you see coming… but sometimes you don’t. And often the only thing you can do is hold on tight, brace yourself, and give a quick look to the one strapped into this thing with you. You have no clue when its gonna end, but despite how crazy and hectic it is, you don’t really want it to be too soon. Because all those ups and downs add up to one thrilling ride.

I have come to accept that unfortunately without those hard drops, and low valleys we’d have no way to really contextualize the highs and appreciate the beauty of those moments. I constantly remind myself to stop and think, look around for a moment, take it in. The important wins, and the big milestones will always be sure to bring a smile to your face. But don’t forget to appreciate the little moments too, the inside joke that will last a lifetime, the start of a new friendship, the reunion of an old one. And especially, the ability to sit down with the ones you love, talk some s**t, and laugh till you’re out of breath. Because you never know when this ride will be over.

This past weekend I had the privilege of hosting a small car show along the main drag of Hudson, Massachusetts. The town was hosting a festival celebrating the wonderful community that creates such a unique and beautiful place for people to come together. Although for me, it’s much more than that. Hudson is the small town that I grew up in, that I watched change and grow over the years. The town I was raised in, and my friends now raise their children in. The town I’ve heard countless stories about from all the locals, some friends and some family, but not too many strangers. Stories from a time when downtown was filled with motorcycles and everyone hung out at Billy Jacks, stories from the old Catholic school that stood right in the center of Main St.

This town has taken on many faces over the years, and I’ve been lucky enough to witness first hand some of that transformation. Along with those changes we’ve gained layers and layers of diversity, from many different places both near and far. What I’ve loved to see throughout this transformation is the overall growing sense of community. Downtown has become such a melting pot of ideas and expression and art. Yet this small American town has made sure not to loose itself in the progress and has maintained its cozy traditional charm that New England has come to be known for.

With this in mind, it was with great pleasure that I got to contribute my own passions to this ever growing town I’ve gotten to call my home. Car culture has always been my favorite way to connect with people and strengthen bonds with strangers over common interests, and that kind of connection thrives in a place like Hudson. A town where the car meets are filled with anything from old pick up trucks, to customized JDM builds, and everything in between. And at the end of the day, isn’t community the whole point of car culture?

Success is an interesting concept.

The more I see, the more I try to observe, the more I try to learn from whatever and whomever I can. One of my more recent observations is how happiness comes in many different packages. Some people crave interaction, and human connection, they need to live action packed lives with big social circles. Other people have the productivity bug and just need to be accomplishing and achieving constantly, the kind of person that unwinds with extra work after they’re done with all of their work for the day. There are also those that enjoy the peace and quiet of seclusion. A simple and slow life, low stress, low stakes, and low cortisol. And in every walk of life you find plenty of success, and plenty of failure in building a life full of what people call success.

I often find that people can’t agree on what success even is, we put so much merit behind the metrics we set for our own selves and judge everyone else based on those same criteria. Whether you measure success in life by reputation, financial status, accomplishments, lives impacted, or any other number I think you’re always going to miss the target. Internal happiness is the only metric that I believe truly represents success in life, and it’s completely immeasurable by anyone but yourself. So instead of bothering with what criteria people have prioritized in their own lives, focus on the one thing no one else can measure, your own happiness no matter the package.

This year, during car week, I finally spent my time doing more of what I wanted to do, and less of what I had to do. For me, these trips are just as much about business as they are about pleasure. Having to look over plenty of auction inventory for the few gems really worth the money, or having to talk people out of making their next big financial mistake comes with the territory. But thankfully for ‘26, our friends Bonhams|Cars put this years auction right in the middle of my favorite part of car week, The ROLEX Motorsport Reunion!

You can always find a show with some legendary race cars on display. Static, quiet, and motionless on a lawn. How can you truly appreciate a car made for racing when it’s standing still surrounded by shiny show pieces? The only way I’ve found to appreciate the kinds of cars that were never even considered to be candidates for car shows, is to see them in action. And there isn’t a more picturesque and iconic place to see that than WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Laguna Seca, the only view good enough to take my eyes away from the amazing machinery flying by.

I often find I most enjoy things with a friend or companion that I can share the experience with, I don’t know if it’s the ability to share in a story together later, or just for the pure enjoyment of seeing another human happy. But I tend to get too caught up in that to remember how good it is to take time for yourself. Go out for a day on your own, go at your own pace, eat wherever you feel like, drive wherever the road takes you. Find peace in the solidarity. And maybe end up at a car show anyways.

German Car Day Museum is another of the many important events I make sure to have marked on my list every year, obviously the subject matter is very much in my wheelhouse, however this one is especially important to me for more personal reasons.

I have been a “car guy” since before I even knew it, and that’s thanks to one very important man, my Dad. I spent my earliest years getting carried around the same shows I now participate in with him. Few were as important to the family as German Car Day, since it fell on Father’s Day every year. It was the perfect excuse for my Dad to get the whole family to go to a car show together, something I have come to appreciate now seeing my own friends do the same with their families. And in recent times has become the perfect reminder of how close my father and I are and get to be on a daily basis.

So, as I watch life repeat itself and the wheels turn ‘round and ‘round, I very much appreciate the time spent with my Dad.
