It's that time of year again! The Waldoboro Children's Christmas and Winter Program is in full swing, and we're reaching out for your support.

Our program provides children in Waldoboro with a new warm coat, boots, mittens/gloves, a cozy outfit, a pair of pajamas, socks, a book, two age-appropriate toys, and a board game for the whole family. None of this would be possible without the generosity of donors like you.

Just a reminder that if you would like to obtain an absentee ballot you have until today, October 29th at 5:00 pm. You can obtain a absentee ballot by calling the Town Clerk at 832-5369 ext. 5., stopping in at the Town Office, or by using the online request service through the Maine Secretary of State Office at the following link.

After Thursday, October 29th voters may request an absentee ballot by completing and signing a Special Circumstances Application.
On the Application the voter must indicate which of the four allowable reasons to request an absentee ballot after the deadline applies to them, as follows:
1.Unexpected absence from the municipality during the entire time the polls are open on Election Day; or
2. Physical disability; or
3. Incapacity or illness that has resulted in the voter being unable to leave home or a treatment facility; or
4. Inability to travel to the polls if the voter is a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct. See less

The Waldoboro Children's Christmas & Winter Program is now accepting applications for Boxes of Joy. Each of our Boxes of Joy include new mittens/gloves, hat, winter boots, a winter coat, socks, a warm outfit, a pair of pajamas, 2 age-appropriate toys, books, and a game for the family to enjoy.

All requests must be in by November13th to make sure all requests can be fulfilled. This program is for Waldoboro residents only, from birth to 17 years of age. Toys will be provided from birth to 13 years of age. Clothing or necessities for ages 14-17. We do not provide game systems, video games, video game cartridges, electronics, cell phones, gift cards or “big ticket” items. We make every effort to obtain items requested, but we cannot guarantee every request will be met.

YOU MUST BE THE CUSTODIAL PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OF THE CHILD. ONLY ONE BOX OF JOY PER CHILD. WE COORIDNATE WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR AREA, PLEASE ONLY APPLY TO ONE ORGANIZATION.

On Monday morning, October 26th from 8am to noon, Adolphsen Line Painting will be be painting the parking spaces on Friendship Road & Jefferson Street. There will be no on-street parking during this time. Please use the Wooster (lot behind Community Pharmacy) and Kuhn (lot across from Wooster) parking lots. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are already receiving calls for heating assistance. It is important if you are in need of heating assistance and qualify that you sign up for LiHEAP. This is the first step for heating assistance. Tomorrow, Thursday, October 22nd Adolphsen Line Painting will be painting the parking spaces on Main Street in downtown Waldoboro. Please refrain from parking on the Waldoboro Library side of Main Street.

Please stay tuned for more information on the painting of spaces on Jefferson and Friendship Streets in the coming week.

Public Works will be placing cones in the no parking areas.

As the winter season approaches, we are coming together to ensure that Waldoboro children whose families are facing economic hardship receive a "Box of Joy" filled with a warm winter coat, winter boots, a warm outfit, a pair of pajamas, two small toys, a book and a family game. This community-driven program relies entirely on the generosity of neighbors like you to support local families.

We know that current economic conditions are hitting everyone hard right now. Because of rising costs, we anticipate an even greater need for assistance within our community this year. At the same time, we completely understand that these same financial pressures may affect our donors' ability to give. Please know that no contribution is too small—every single dollar directly helps keep a Waldoboro child warm.

Here is how you can help support our community's kids:
MAKE A MONETARY DONATION
Financial contributions are the most flexible way to support the program. They allow organizers to purchase specific missing sizes, winter coats, and boots for children of all ages.

In Person: Drop off your donation directly at the Waldoboro Town Office.
