Ceramic coated… so why the water spots? 💧

Bret’s Tacoma parks outside. About 2½–3 years after its DuraSlic five-year ceramic coating, he returned with water-spot concerns and wanted the undercarriage cleaned up.

Watch the rinse—the surface still shows water repellency. Ceramic protection makes care easier, but it doesn’t make a truck maintenance-free.

His original “Works” package included rustproofing and black undercoating. This visit includes undercarriage cleaning with Diamond Ceramic protection and an upgrade to Obsidian Graphene on the paint.

Coating is only as good as the prep underneath it.

Before a drop of ceramic touched this truck: wheels and tires deep-cleaned so brake dust stops eating the finish. Clay bar pulling out contamination no wash can remove. Fine polish cutting swirls — real gloss, not hidden. C6 adhesion promoter so the coating chemically bonds instead of sitting on top. Engine bay detailed, because details matter.

Hard water spots bond to paint and glass — even on a coated car that lives outside.

This is Brett's blue Corolla. He's a return customer — we coated all of his vehicles about 2-3 years ago. This one got our DuraSlic 5-year ceramic about 2½ years ago, and it sits outside, not in a garage.

The coating was still holding up well, but Brett wanted to stay ahead of the game, so he booked his vehicles in for a refresh — and we upgraded this one to our Obsidian 7-year ceramic, backed by the manufacturer's warranty.

What you're watching: deep wheel clean, clay bar, glass spot removal, paint-depth readings, then machine correction. The gloss at the end is all correction — no filters.

See those crusty spots on the glass? That's Hawaiʻi hard water — mineral deposits that bake in and etch the surface if left alone. And those swirls under the light? 2–3 years later… and look at that water behavior. 💦

Brett’s TRD Camry was protected with our DuraSlic 5-Year Ceramic Coating 2–3 years ago, and the coating is still performing.

But ceramic coating doesn’t make paint invincible.

Over time, his car cover caused rubbing in several areas, and the roof developed scratches and webbing.

So Brett brought it back for a refresh.

We inspected the paint, polished out the damaged areas, refined the finish, and properly prepared the surface for an upgrade to our Obsidian Graphene Ceramic Coating.

This is the part most people never see.

Even a coated truck needs the right wash.

This 2023 Denali was ceramic coated when it was brand new. But years of automatic car washes left fine scratches through the whole finish — that's just what the brushes do over time, especially on black paint.

Here's the fix: we measured the paint thickness first, polished out the wash marks, and brought the paint back.

No judgment if you love the tunnel wash — just good to know what it does to a finish over the years. And if your paint already looks like slide 2, we can fix that.
