Construction Scheduled to Resume on S.D. Highway 46 Project through Wagner

WAGNER, S.D. – On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, construction work is scheduled to resume on S.D. Highway 46 through the town of Wagner. Work on phase two of the project includes rebuilding the roadway and storm sewer from Grant Avenue SE to the west end of the Wagner City limits. The City of Wagner will be conducting a simultaneous project to install city water and sanitary sewer. Permanent striping on the project is scheduled for 2027.

Motorists should follow the posted signage. During construction, traffic will utilize Highway 46 with lane closures in place as needed. Residents living within the work zone are asked to use caution when driving in the area and to obey all flaggers and construction signs. Alternate routes should be utilized, if possible, to avoid delays.

The prime contractor for this $21 million project is A & R Construction of Plainview, NE. The completion date for the second phase of this multi-year project is Friday, Nov. 20, 2026. The overall project completion date is June 2027.

Blizzard warnings issued across South Dakota. Interstate and highway closures are expected tonight, Saturday, March 14, 2026, and into Sunday, March 15, 2026, in effected areas.

The combination of heavy snowfall and strong winds will cause snow and ice covered roads along with blizzard and whiteout conditions, with limited visibility throughout the state with this storm system.

Plan ahead. Travel Saturday evening and well into Sunday may become very difficult or impossible due to heavy snowfall and strong winds.

Meet the Owners!

Levi and Lexie both graduated from Bon Homme High School in Tyndall, SD, before heading to Southeast Tech in Sioux Falls. Levi studied Diesel Technology, and Lexie pursued Media Design.

Levi got his start in the industry early, working at S&K Truck Repair in Wagner throughout high school. During college, he moved to an alignment shop in Sioux Falls, where he stayed until 2019 before joining Dean’s Place. Today, he brings 11 years of alignment experience to our shop!

Lexie works at SONIFI Health in Sioux Falls as a Senior Digital Production Specialist, where she’s spent the last 8 years honing her creative and technical skills.

We’re excited to bring our backgrounds together to serve the trucking community with honesty, quality, and pride. Thanks for being here and supporting Legacy Alignment!
