What started as a steering issue turned into a complete transformation for this Boston Whaler 315 Conquest. โš“๏ธ
The owner originally brought the boat to us because the twin L6 Verados wouldn't steer. We discovered both swivel shafts were completely seized. ๐Ÿ˜ž The motors wouldn't turn despite my best efforts. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜†
At that point, the conversation shifted from repair to long-term reliability.
With high hours on the existing engines and plans for extended trips and overnight cruising, the owner decided it was the perfect time to repower. The result? A pair of brand-new Mercury 300 JPO V8 Verados. ๐Ÿ”ฅ
We've already removed the old power, mounted the new V8s, installed the steering rams, and we're now waiting on a few final steering components before bringing this project across the finish line. ๐Ÿ‘Š
This Whaler is about to leave the dock with a whole new lease on life. Can't wait to get it on the water. and

Final update on this 21' Daytona restoration! ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Old rigging and cable steering is gone! Patched every unnecessary hole in the transom, completed gel coat repairs, and gave the boat a fresh start. Lookin' killer!
We removed the jack plate and engine bracket, replaced all hardware, had the swim steps powder coated, and cleaned up the interior compartments that were long overdue for some attention.
To keep the project budget-friendly, we rigged the boat with a customer-supplied Mercury 300 OptiMax
Now it is time for this Daytona to hit the lower river. Can't wait to see this one back where it belongs ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿšค

๐Ÿ˜†Glad we put you guys up to the challenge! We got a ton of answers in the comments.
This Cobia came in with twin 225 V6 DTS motors and a frustrating intermittent issue: both motors would randomly shut down at the same time and throw an E-stop code. Honestly, this one humbled us.
We zeroed in on a ground connection behind the intake manifold near the starter. It was tight... but not tight enough, and definitely not clean enough.
Shoutout
The boat is back with its owner and running great. Huge thanks to everyone who joined this troubleshooting challenge and shared their ideas! and

Daytona just rolled in and it's getting a complete transformation! ๐Ÿ”ฅ
This project starts with fiberglass repairs, transom cleanup, bilge restoration, and steering upgrades before we move into the big decision. Powering it with either a Mercury 300 Optimax XS or a Mercury 300R. ๐Ÿ’ช
From patching old rigging holes and repairing beach rash to upgrading from cable to hydraulic steering, every detail is being addressed to bring this Daytona back better than ever.
Stay tuned as we document the process from start to finish. ๐Ÿšคโšก What do you think we should hang behind this? and
