Quick service to keep this survivor 73 911E going for a while longer. It’s nice to see a regularly driven well taken care of early 911. It’s not a show queen but it’s also not an improperly restored car full of gremlins. You could say it’s just right, with 170,000 original miles, same owner since 87 it still drives really well. But you have to keep an eye out for little issues that could get worse - that’s why it’s important to have a guy that knows what to look for - of course easier said than done.

Matching white 356s on the road together. It’s such a rare sight these days but I think the change in scenery makes the general public smile. Who doesn’t like looking at these cars - they are so different from anything else on the road nowadays.

1967 is the best year 912 in my opinion and this particular Slate Grey with Red interior 912 is a super car level 912 I built back in 2018. 155hp dynoed engine, limited slip 5spd, big brakes and recaro sports seats. It’s on BAT with 3hrs to go and it’s at $78k right now. Let’s see what it does and I’ll report back on the final price. I am not affiliated with the seller but I love it when my work gets the recognition it deserves. Easy auction for me to watch because my money is not on the line 😆 Anyway please go make a comment if you’ve been following me for a while - you know my works is good 😊

Mechanical, analog fuel injection issues. Nagging problems with this 930 was an occasional hot start problem that kept getting worse. Now we fix it with a new fuel accumulator which acts like a mechanical capacitor to keep pressure in the fuel system. What happens is after you shut the engine off the heat boils back into the fuel lines which causes v***r lock. The constant pressure exerted on the supply lines by the accumulator eliminates the v***r lock. The pressure will slowly dissipate out of the system but by the time that happens the engine is cool again and fires up with no problems.

When you are stuck in a parking lot and the car won’t start you feel helpless. Once you know what’s happening it’s a simple part to change out.

Don’s amazing 1952 Porsche 356 pre A. When it comes to super early Porsche this information is sparse and hard to find. 1950-1952 cars are so rare I can count on 2 hands how many I have seen in my lifetime. This car is so correct and right, I’m not an expert on early 356 but it just feels right in every way. Older is definitely cooler when it comes to all VWs and 356s.

“I used it as my training car in the run-up to the race. We would train on the course for a full week, trying to memorize the 45-mile lap.” Jochen Neerpasch

For fans of the Porsche marque, driving a 911 Targa along the Sicilian roads that made up the Targa Florio circuit—the very race from which the Targa takes its name—during the golden years of the event would be a story passed down to future generations, but for factory driver Jochen Neerpasch, it was all part of the job. Neerpasch, perhaps best known as the founder of BMW’s M Division, was a highly successful racer in his own right. Winner of the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche 907 and a third-place finisher at Le Mans in a Porsche 908 the very same year with Rolf Stommelen, Neerpasch paired with many of the all-time-greats including Amon, Siffert, Ickx, Elford, and Hermann. For the 1967 edition of the Targa Florio, Porsche entered a 910 for him and Vic Elford, and to best prepare for the event, provided a 911 “soft window” Targa company car to him as a reconnaissance vehicle to practice on the vast 44.74 mi Piccolo Circuito delle Madonie in the week leading up to the event.

Händler is indicated as “WE” short form for “WERK” or factory. First owner on Kardex “Versuch.” Engine number, 900 054, it falls squarely within the range of numbers reserved exclusively for prototype use, as every engine numbered between 900 001 and 900 100 was set aside for the test department—the first production 901 to leave the factory after 14 September 1964 carried a number above 900 100, placing this unit firmly in pre-series territory.

My OG buddy Thomas stopped by from NorCal with his son. I’ve known him for over 20years and the coolest thing is his 16yr old son is getting way into old Porsches the way we did. So in a rare moment I showed part of the collection to them. His son was amazed and I hope I inspired him. One guy hitting the peak of his collection showing a future collector what’s possible if he starts now. The reactions are genuine and this is the first time they’ve seen this even though I’ve known them for years.

Teaching people around the world the crazy nuances of Porsche building. It’s heavy lifting to build these cars all by yourself, sometimes you need a hand. I don’t know if I’m worn out yet but I still get a kick out of these cars - lately I’ve been having a renewed sense of enjoyment by explaining what I do to all of you - my audience. For an even more in depth learning immersion you guys can have me come to you. Travel, new locations and experiences has the feeling of a longer life. I think that’s the future, I don’t want to be an old grouchy man in a shop with too much work to do when I get old. I’ll help lift your burden and we’ll make amazing Porsches together. Now I just have to figure out how to make that easy for me to do.
