I would like a chance to spread some wisdom among the racing community. Last night time and time again had racers complaining about who gets but to the back of the field after a caution. Well our rule is if you cause the caution then you go to back of field, we do not race back to finish line and we realign the field by the previous lap except for the kart that caused the wreck he goes to back of field.
Let’s replay the wreck as seen by the flag man which is who makes the call by what he sees on track. Had a kart fixing to be lapped, well a kart tapped the kart being lapped which collected the lap kart the kart that hit them and then another kart that got caught up in wreck to no fault to his own wrong place at wrong time. So flag man’s ruling was the kart that wrecked the lap kart was sent to the back of the field, the lapped kart that got spun got sent to back of field because he was lapped. And the kart that got collected by no fault of his own was sent back to his original position. In my opinion the flag man done right especially going by track rules which state if you cause the caution you go to back of field. But since certain people wanted to argue because they don’t understand the rules I’m am gonna post the rules that we use.
In competitive go-kart racing, the driver who is determined by track officials to have caused the wreck or the initial caution is sent to the back of the field for the restart.
While exact restart rules vary depending on the specific sanctioning body (such as WKA or IKF) and local track rules, fields are generally re-ordered during a yellow flag caution using the following standard sporting regulations:
1. The At-Fault Driver (Sent to the Back)
Track officials at the flag tower or corner workers watch the incident to find the root cause.

The Spun Kart: If a driver spins out on their own and triggers a yellow flag, they automatically drop to the tail of the field.

The Aggressive Passer: If a driver makes an illegal, reckless, or overly aggressive pass (like a "dive-bomb" where they do not establish sufficient overlap before the apex) and takes out another competitor, they are penalized and sent to the back.
2. The Clean-Up Rule (Innocent Bystanders)
A common point of confusion is what happens to drivers who spun or stopped just to avoid hitting the wrecked karts. This depends heavily on the local track rulebook: [1]
The "Blend" or "Judgement" Rule: At many professional and high-level regional tracks, if a driver spins or stops strictly to avoid a collision and does not cause the wreck, officials will blend them back into their original running position. [1]
The "Stop and Go to the Back" Rule: At many local, grassroots dirt ovals and short tracks, rules are strictly literal to keep the race moving. If your kart stops moving on the track under a caution—even if you did it purely to avoid a massive pileup—you may still be forced to restart at the back of the field because you stopped.
3. Scoring Loops and Lap Reversals
When a wreck happens, the field is frozen. To figure out the exact restart order for the rest of the clean drivers, officials look at the running order from the last completed lap scored at the start/finish line. Anyone who passes a kart after the yellow flag is displayed must give that position back or face a penalty.
So according to these rules the call was spot on. The way I described what happened and ruling is exactly like it happened. They were complaining that the other kart that got caught up in wreck to no fault of his own was supposed to go to back of field and we were playing favorites. Well there’s your sign it right there in black and white. So next time before you accuse us of playing favorites, you need to know the rules.
Thank you for taking time to understand the rules. And no need to comment that’s not what the argument was because that is the exactly what the complaint was about. Simply put, we operate this facility so people can come out have a good time and enjoy their self. We don’t have a kart in the race we have no reason to play favorites because we want to treat everyone fair. But arguing and non respectful behavior will not be tolerated. So take this as an opportunity to be clear on the rules and understand arguing and disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated so take this as everyone’s one and only warning about conduct. We want people to come out and enjoy the race. It may be different if we were running for a thousand dollars, but all you win is a medallion and bragging rights. So can’t we all get along.
