This beautiful VW Golf R was recently PRESERVED.
After meeting with our client and discussing his concerns from a previous dealership-applied ceramic coating—and the water spotting issues that followed—we explored several options to properly address the problem.
Because there was also a concern that previous attempts by other shops may have caused permanent damage, we decided the best approach was to start with a complete paint correction and water-spot etching removal.
This was an extremely delicate process, requiring over 60 hours of polishing alone. Previous attempts had involved rotary polishing across the entire vehicle in an effort to remove the etching. While aggressive heat can temporarily cause the clear coat to swell and visually hide water spots, those defects can eventually return as the surface cools.
Rather than repeat that process, Autobella took a slow, controlled approach—working in smaller sections, minimizing heat buildup, and allowing the paint to cool between steps. We even intentionally parked the vehicle in the sun for several days throughout the process to repeatedly heat the surface and verify that the water spotting was truly gone.
Once we confirmed the defects were resolved, the paint was refined to maximize gloss, clarity, and depth of color.
From there, we went all-in on protection:
• Rayno Phantom Carbon Ceramic window tint throughout the vehicle, delivering incredible appearance along with exceptional heat and UV rejection—and backed by a lifetime warranty.
• The wheels were removed and given a proper decontamination treatment, along with the calipers, before being protected with GYEON Q² Rim EVO ceramic coating for long-term protection.
• Every exterior painted panel and piano-black piece was protected with GYEON Paint Protection Film (PPF). Its exceptional optical clarity was critical for the client, while the added ceramic coating over the PPF provides additional UV protection and makes routine maintenance significantly easier.
This wasn’t simply a detail.
It was a complete preservation process
designed to correct the problems of the past, protect the vehicle for the future, and bring this Golf R back to the level it deserves.
