When it comes to machining and building an engine… does attention to detail still matter?

Because from where I’ve been sitting — behind a mill, behind a lathe, and behind the wheel — the smallest details are what separate a 600hp build from a 1,200hp bulletproof monster.

So I’m curious…

👉 What do YOU think is lacking in today’s engine builders?
👉 What shortcuts have you seen?
👉 What corners do people cut that absolutely SHOULDN’T be cut?

Well… it’s been a minute. 😅
But we’re back in the assembly room at American Speed Shops messing with some fun stuff again.

Working on a little side project — a 5.3L aluminum LS getting:
🔧 Fully forged rotating assembly
🧠 Frankenstein heads
⚙️ Procharger (undecided… but you already know it’s gonna scream)
🚚 Dropping it into a lightweight S10 with a T56 Magnum
🎯 Goal: 1,000 horsepower street/strip setup

We don’t have the big machines anymore, but we still build engines and help guys with their setups. If you’ve got questions about your LS build or need a hand putting something together, hit us up.

American Speed Shops is still alive — just doing it for the love of it now. 💪🔥
