Did you know?
In 1835 Blue Creek was part of Alabama’s early gold rush!
Mining was a vigorous activity from 1835 until about 1855, yielding both fine flake and the occasional large nuggets. We still have a few folks come by from time to time, set forth and paddle up the creek. They will pan around where the old gold mine is now submerged underneath the waters of Blue Creek. Because of this history we have incorporated a fun activity for you here at the marina. Pick out a bag, grab a sifter and see what treasures you find right at the boat ramp. Happy Mining!

Lake Mitchell Home Owners Boat Owners (HOBO) Association is hosting a Lake Clean Up Day Saturday, October 4 beginning at 8:00am at the Higgins Ferry Park.

If you would like to apply for the Lake Mitchell HOBO Scholarship, you must attend this day. More information can be found on our website under Student & Parent Resources.
