Help Wanted at J.R.’s Speed Shop

We are looking to hire another mechanic to help us with the overwhelming amount of work we have coming in the door. Must be able to diagnose and repair antiquated automobiles.

Looking specifically for one or more of the following skills:

-Wiring repair and full harness installation
-Carburetor repair and installation
-Basic fuel injection diagnosis (electronic and mechanical)
-Basic ECU tuning (Holley, Tunerstudio, etc)
-Welding (MIG and TIG)
-Fabrication
-Early automatic transmission repair
-Differential set up
-Ignition timing and setup

All new hires are subject to a one-month trial period. Your own set of tools will be necessary. We are looking for someone who can handle several different types of jobs, from basic repairs and wiring to fiberglass work. We are not a high volume shop, but recently have seen a massive increase in our workload and have an opportunity to expand.

Must have a good understanding of the following:

-Engine and drivetrain components and functions

Due to the recent developments in the COVID-19 situation here in the United States, we would like to inform all our customers and friends of a few changes we are making to ensure our own personal safety, the safety of others, and our continued productivity. First and foremost, we are all sticking to the suggested social distancing measures suggested by the Centers for Disease Control, both in our personal lives and while at work, and frequently disinfecting surfaces in the office and bathrooms. Customers entering the shop will no longer be allowed past the office unless accompanied by an employee. All visits, until further notice, are by appointment only.

Our monthly coffee and donuts gathering has been cancelled for the month of March in accordance with social distancing guidelines. We are still committed to continuing work on all projects currently in the shop. Unless a major change occurs, our parts and material suppliers should continue to accept orders and make deliveries.

We hope all of our friends and customers will be able to stay safe and healthy during this pandemic. If there is anything we can do to help or any concerns you would like addressed, please feel free to contact us and we will be glad to talk it over.

Well speed week has gotten off to a not very great start. Monday and still no racing. Our last chance is tomorrow 730am with only one 4 mile course, first come first serve.

We did our research yesterday and scoped out rear engine cars of certain design and took plenty of photos of some bitchin cars. I'll post them up later. Today was hurry up and wait so we explored the Utah frontier, sunrise at the salt and generally got lost. Found an old gold mine with shaker table and cracked open a fossil. Not everything can be about cars, until tomorrow.

Some random shots from the nugget and out on the salt. Always a good time with friends and like minded enthusiasts from the world of land speed. Next year will hopefully be fruitful in our endeavors and we'll be back. Look for an announcement later in the year.

Quick update on the project flathead before we take off for speedweek. Just about finished with the build. Missing a couple small parts etc. Should be a killer combination for our a sedan project. Cant wait to hear it run!
