Alignment Shop — Aligned vs. Not Aligned: The Real 2-Year Cost Gap

Let's run the actual numbers for Vancouver WA drivers.

THE ALIGNED DRIVER (Salmon Creek):
• Tire set: $600 installed
• Average lifespan at spec: ~55,000 miles
• At 15,000 miles/year: tires last 3.6 years
• Annual alignment checks: ~$110/year x 3 years = $330
• Total 3-year spend: ~$930

THE NEGLECTED DRIVER (Hazel Dell):
• Same tire set: $600
• Average lifespan with bad alignment: ~22,000 miles
• At 15,000 miles/year: tires gone in 1.5 years
• Replacement set at 18 months: another $600
• Third partial set needed before year 4: another $400+
• Alignment checks: $0 (skipped every time)
• Total 3-year spend: ~$1,600+

The gap: $670+ out of pocket — from a service that costs $110 once a year.

And that's before adding fuel economy loss from rolling resistance and accelerated suspension wear.

A four-wheel alignment at Springs Brake and Suspension in Vancouver WA resets your geometry to factory spec in about 45 minutes. It pays for itself before the first tire rotation.

Alignment Shop — "I Thought It Was the Tires. It Was the Alignment the Whole Time."

This one comes up constantly. Here's how it plays out:

A driver from Felida came in last month with outside-edge wear on both front tires and a subtle left pull she'd been managing for the better part of three months. She'd already priced out a new tire set and was ready to spend $500+.

We put the car on the alignment rack first.

Driver's side camber: nearly 2 degrees off negative.
Toe: out of spec on both fronts.

The tires weren't failing — they were being forced to wear wrong by two bad alignment angles. A 45-minute service corrected both. Within a few weeks, the remaining tread was wearing evenly again. The pull was gone the same day she left.

She did not need new tires.

This scenario plays out regularly in Brush Prairie and across Clark County too — drivers replacing tire sets on an 18–24 month cycle for years, never realizing the real culprit was an alignment that was never corrected after a pothole hit or suspension repair.

If your tires are wearing unevenly, or you've got a pull you've been ignoring — come in for a check at Springs Brake and Suspension before you spend money on rubber you may not actually need.

Found Springs Auto on Google when I needed an alignment. Gave them a call, and they got me in the very next day—super easy. A few hours after dropping it off, the car was ready and riding smooth. When I picked it up, Rick mentioned I should listen to the car over the next month, just in case anything started to feel off. Sure enough, I started to hear a bit of rubbing. Brought it back in, and they had it sorted out that same day—quick and painless.Sean was working the front desk and was super friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. Both he and Rick were great to work with.Springs Auto is definitely my go-to now. Good people, solid work, and zero hassle.

Alignment Shop — Vancouver WA's Wet Season Is About Two Weeks Out. Is Your Alignment Ready?

The dry Pacific Northwest summer is almost over. September rolls in, the leaves start dropping, and Clark County roads go from summer-dry to rain-slicked within the first week.

This is the time of year when misalignment stops being a tire-wear problem and becomes a safety problem.

🌧️ Reduced contact patch — a misaligned tire doesn't sit flat. You're gripping on one edge of the tread, not the full surface. Less rubber means less traction at exactly the wrong time.

🌧️ Longer stopping distances — even a small reduction in grip contact meaningfully extends how long it takes to stop on wet pavement.

🌧️ Higher hydroplaning risk — a narrower contact patch means water gets underneath the tire more easily, lifting it off the road.

🌧️ Reduced steering response — a pull from bad caster or toe angles is easy to ignore on dry summer highways. On wet roads, that same pull takes real effort to correct in an emergency.

Camas and Battle Ground commuters running daily miles on SR-14: now is the time to get checked — not after the first slippery morning in October.

An alignment at Springs Brake and Suspension in Vancouver WA takes under an hour. Book it before the fall rush hits.

Alignment Shop — What Actually Happens When We Put Your Car on the Alignment Rack

Most Vancouver WA drivers know they're supposed to get alignments. Fewer know what the process actually involves. Here's the full breakdown:

When your car goes on our four-wheel alignment system at Springs Brake and Suspension, we measure three angles at each of the four corners:

📐 CAMBER — the vertical tilt of each wheel viewed from the front
• Negative camber: top leans inward → inner shoulder wears fast
• Positive camber: top leans outward → outer shoulder wears fast
• Spec is usually near zero degrees — small deviations add up fast

📐 TOE — whether your tires point slightly inward or outward relative to straight ahead
• Toe-in: angled toward center → feathering on outer edges
• Toe-out: angled outward → feathering on inner edges
• Even a fraction of a degree makes a measurable difference

📐 CASTER — the angle of the steering axis viewed from the side
• Affects straight-line tracking and steering return-to-center
• Imbalance side-to-side creates persistent pulling under braking

After measuring all four corners, we compare against your vehicle's manufacturer specs and adjust until every angle is within tolerance. Then we re-measure to confirm before the car leaves the rack.

Salmon Creek and Hazel Dell drivers: the whole process takes around 45 minutes. It's how you protect a $30,000+ vehicle with a $100 service.
