50 Years of Jacobus Auto Body
October 1, 1976.
That date marked the beginning of something much bigger than an auto body shop. It was the beginning of a family legacy.
For 50 years, the Jacobus family has had the privilege of serving the people of Vancouver, Washington, and Clark County. What started in 1976 has grown through five decades of changing vehicles, changing technology, changing times—and countless relationships with customers, employees, friends, and neighbors.
When we look back at the vehicles we worked on in those early years, it’s hard to believe how much has changed.
Back then, cars were largely mechanical. There were no computers controlling nearly every system, no cameras watching the road, no sophisticated sensors, and none of the electronics we take for granted today.
Today, a vehicle is an incredibly complex piece of technology.
A collision repair technician isn’t just repairing metal and replacing parts anymore. They’re working with computers, sensors, cameras, advanced safety systems, specialized materials, and technology that didn’t even exist when we opened our doors.
And then there’s the paint.
The colors and finishes on today’s vehicles are incredible. Pearls, metallics, three-stage finishes, subtle variations, and colors that can look completely different depending on the light. Getting a modern vehicle back to the way it looked before an accident takes knowledge, patience, technology, and a tremendous amount of attention to detail.
But through all of those changes, one thing hasn’t changed.
It’s the pride we take in our work.
It’s the feeling of handing a customer back the keys and knowing we did everything we could to make their vehicle right again.
It’s the relationships we’ve built over the years.
It’s the employees who have dedicated part of their lives to this company.
It’s the customers who trusted us with their vehicles—and then came back years later and trusted us again.
And most importantly, it’s family.
For 50 years, the Jacobus name has been part of the Vancouver community. We’ve seen generations of families walk through our doors. We’ve repaired vehicles for parents, then their children, and sometimes even their grandchildren.
We’ve watched Vancouver grow and change around us.
We’ve watched the automobile industry transform from simple tools and craftsmanship into a world of technology and advanced engineering.
And we’ve changed right along with it.
We’ve learned. We’ve invested. We’ve adapted. We’ve trained. We’ve continued to push ourselves to understand the vehicles of today while never forgetting the values that got us here in the first place.
Hard work. Honesty. Pride in our craftsmanship. Taking care of people. And doing the job right.
Fifty years is a long time.
It’s thousands of vehicles.
Thousands of customers.
Countless hours in the shop.
Good days, difficult days, big changes, and memories that will last a lifetime.
But when we look back, what we’re most proud of isn’t simply how long we’ve been in business.
We’re proud of the people who made those 50 years possible.
Our family.
Our employees.
Our customers.
Our friends.
Our community.
To everyone who has trusted Jacobus Auto Body over the past five decades, thank you.
Thank you for allowing our family to be part of your lives.
Thank you for trusting us with your vehicles.
Thank you for supporting a local family business.
And thank you for being part of our story.
