Today I am sharing about car maintenance. Many people don’t understand the importance of having their car maintained based on what their car manufacturer suggests. Many people believe it is a suggestion. In our line of business we counsel our customers to adhere to regular maintenance. Some people don’t drive their car “that much”. In any case, maintenance is still very important. For instance if your car manufacturer says to have an oil change every 3 thousand miles, you need to do that. The pictures below show an example of what happens when you don’t change your oil regularly. The first pics are from the oil pan and oil pick up tube on a blown engine. The last few picks are that same oil pan and pick up tube, cleaned from all the sledge…you can actually see the drain bolt now, in the pan. Call us for an appointment today.

As I was delivering a car, I was listening to the radio that was on in the customers car. The show was talking about budgets and how do you stay on budget with gas and everything else, going higher and higher. Everything is going up and we need to be prepared. Briest Automotive offers a Vehicle Health Savings Account to our customers. Just like an individual Health Savings Account but for your vehicle(s). Money is set aside monthly into an account for use on your vehicle or any vehicle you choose. Unlike an extended warranty policy, that you pay lots of money into and only covers designated repairs and can be denied a claim, your VHSA covers anything you want it to. Good morning! As with most small businesses Briest Automotive recognizes the importance of social distancing. With that, many people are home instead of out and about like normal. Briest automotive is a mobile vehicle repair company so we come to you which means you can get routine maintenance and/or needed repairs while you are home.

In our efforts to maintain social distancing, taking care of our customers and ourselves, we are using gloves while working on cars, washing our hands often and our contact is limited to getting keys. We are even taking credit card information via phone instead of handling your credit cards.

We are committed to making sure our customer cars are maintained while you are down, so when this is all over you are good to go.

We have seen quite a few car accidents lately and been in a few as well. Feeling prompted to share some thoughts. With our business of working on cars and doing collision/paint and body work we have a decent understanding of what is supposed to happen and the first thing we tell everyone, when in an accident;... go get checked out!

Well, I, Pam, ignored our advice and did not get checked out after this last accident in December where I was rear ended. I did not have time to get checked out because of other things going on, until after the 14 days ended and now I am not covered. Please get checked out, you only have 14 days! My doc said if I had just been seen at the accident or at the ER when I was there with my mom I would be covered.

Next pet peeve, you do NOT have to take your car where your insurance company tells you. They have locations they work with and those locations give them a discount so the insurance company does not have to pay as much or whatever the agreement is. You CAN take your car to the shop of YOUR choice. We have had several of our customers go where they were told to go by the insurance company believing that was required for their car to be fixed. It is not...you have the right to go to the shop of your choice.

Back to my accident in December: I had to get an estimate so I took it where I was asked to take it. Bill could have written the estimate for me but I wanted to keep balance so I went where the insurance company was comfortable. I received a check in the mail from the other persons insurance and can now take my vehicle where I want. The shop that wrote the estimate has called to schedule and I have let them know I will not be getting the work done there. It is that simple.

Updates and prayer requests for Briest Automotive:

But first let us say thank you to all of our customers. You have blessed us greatly and gotten us to where we are today.

Updates, we are looking for a BUILDING. We have enough business to allow us to host a brick and mortar building; but still maintain our mobile services as well. We need to find the right building in the right area, if you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Our Vehicle Health Savings Accounts are almost set up so our customers can take advantage of it. We have been given the green light to move forward so a few logistical items and that will become a reality so our customers do not have to figure out how to pay for car repairs, they will already have the money. ASK US HOW!

Prayer requests, first and foremost pray that we are attentive to God so that we do not get ahead of Him. Our desire is to follow His plan! Pray for finances. We will need a lot of working capital to get everything set up in a building. We are in the process of applying for a business loan and a line of credit. In addition to that, we are praying we find a few investors. If you have been a customer of ours for a while, know our quality and care, and know of someone that might be willing to take a chance on a small business, please let us know or introduce us. Please pray for the building that God has prepared for us. Pray for the logistics of everything to come together. Pray for David and Bill to continue to press toward the mark God has called them to and to not get discouraged. Big goals; Bigger God! Thank you!

We are praying for areas already hit and Florida as Irma approaches. While the latest track shows Irma a Cat 3 (possibility) with a less likely Tampa hit at this time, we are not out of the woods completely as things are still too far out to be sure. Some rules of thumb with your cars:
1) gas up early
2) do not drive on a road that is under water, just a few inches of water can float a car
3) using hazard lights while driving in Florida is illegal, please obey that law and only put your hazards on if you are stopped on the side of the road. Hazard lights are for emergencies not bad weather.
4) please stay safe, drive the speed limit, pull off if conditions are too bad. Find a parking lot to be safe and get indoors.
