New update. Judging by that door gap (spread wider at the top) I think the chassis is bent. Add in the rest of the damage and it looks like I'm in the market for a new car. 😭

Well the snow's finally gone. Now at least I can see my '80. That's good, right? 😭

Had some time to start working on the "new" Cutlass today. Found some of the issues I need to address before I start her.

The seller did tell me that it needs a crank seal, but didn't say if it was the front or rear. I'm happy to say that it's the front. When I parked on the hill with her nose pointed down there was a constant drip and the strong smell of rotten gas. When I checked the oil level it read several quarts over full. So not surprisingly the Quadrajet is leaking into the intake and flooding the cylinders. I'll have to rebuild that. The fuel pump also looks like it's been seeping so I'll replace that and all the rubber fuel and vacuum lines while I'm at it.

Speaking of vacuum lines, those were a mess. Some were loose, rotten or just missing. But the weirdest thing I found was that someone actually hooked the passenger side windshield washer hose from the pump to a constant vacuum source on the intake! WTF?

Finally I'll give her new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I found an HEI distributor I had laying around so I'll swap out the old points unit and upgrade her.

Once all that's done I should be able to drive her! 😀

She's not the prettiest thing, but after 5 years of looking I finally found a '74 Cutlass Supreme. A little work and I'll even be able to drive her for now! Eventually she'll get the 455 from the Toro and her 350 will be used in the Trans Am. But that's for later. There's also some rust, but it's all just sheet metal. Nothing structural. This is going to be fun!

This '72 debut would've been a game changer...Olds was about to lay the smack down! The compression drop of '71 ensured this hemi head w43...would never be! :( Had everything gone according to plan...the colonnade era cars packing this under the hood, would've made these great handling cars MONSTERS!
