Dave owns and operates Dimension-Manufacturing-Design, a machine & fab shop in Salem, Oregon. He has been prototyping everything from green energy projects, military work, architectural work for the City of Salem, security gates & doors, custom bikes & cars, designing components for boats, and other custom iron work. Working on vehicles has always been a part of his life since he was young, and he has always been reinventing the wheel. Custom Vanagon overland parts came out of a need for those who use their vehicles to go off the proverbial beaten path. The following is the story of how came to be, according to Dave. "Vanagonlife started with my five-year old son Chase, who had never previously been interested in the hot rods and bikes I was always working on. When I bought my white tin-top, the back end was totaled. The intent was to use it as a scrap parts van, but Chase wanted to fix it. He went over to the toolbox, and grabbed tools to take the totaled rear bumper off. That’s when I realized Chase was showing interest in automotive work. We worked on that van together until it was completely rebuilt, and now it’s my daily driver. Eight months later, he asked if we could make our own Instagram page for the van. Again I started to object, since I had the shop page to take care of. But Chase kept pushing, so I looked to see if was available. Vanagonlife is the culmination of countless times spent exploring the world around us in our vans. We are devoted to the beloved Vanagon, the adventures we have in them, and the people we meet through them."
