3 pistons left the chat. Uncle Rodney out the side. The heads we can save. The rest will be replaced. New TAP stroker engine on the way. Will give this 2009 HD Silverado a new life.

Repeat customer brought us his 2016 Corvette ZO6. Unfortunately, 2 weeks into owning it the stock supercharger ate itself alive and locked up solid at 30k miles. After seeing the damage, most shops would replace the entire engine. We replaced the supercharger with a low mileage 2019 unit with the upgraded bricks and tall lid. Heads got valve job and resurfaced, replaced a few titanium intake valves, all exhaust valves replaced with stainless steel. We upgrade the spring to a conical PAC spring with a little more pressure for valve control. Cleaned up the pistons and put her back together. We also bled the superchargers cooling system and gave it a custom tune. Car is back on the road running fast, safe, and reliable.

These first years of C7 LT4 Corvettes suffered heat problems. They stemmed from multiple issues. The factory supercharger cooling system is notorious for having air in the system. The factory tune is very high on timing. The car would throw codes for misfire detection when cruising 80mph at 3k RPM. By 2019, GM learned their lesson. Aside from the new supercharger, GM bumped the timing down, kept the camshaft VVT re****ed at cruise in higher RPMs, and desensitized misfire detection.

There was a time where all we did was Gen 1 Small Block Chevys. Around Early 2000’s is when we made the jump to LS and never looked back. We have been building and tuning every generation of the SBC for over 30 years. I do love getting to show off our knowledge of these older engines. Dialing in these modern Holley systems is no problem for TAP!

MAP Sensors. Let’s talk about them. This sensor is what measures the BOOST (and vacuum) your engine is seeing. It BLOWS MY MIND 🤯 How many boosted cars I get with the incorrect MAP sensor for the application. It is literally Tuning 101: The Basics. If the first thing your tuner does isn’t figuring out what MAP sensor you have, which one you need, and tune accordingly, you got the wrong guy, pal. More surprising, it’s always the “boosted tuners” that make these mistakes. On top of that, they must be able to tune a Volumetric Efficiency table CORRECTLY.

Attached is a 2004 Silverado SS with a Magnuson supercharger that bounced around town before getting fixed up right by TAP.
