No need to spray large sections for blending. With gelcoat, having your color dialed in is the most important. Spend the extra time to manually tint Gelcoat and you can keep your repair areas small as possible but keeping your fan barely open and still feathering the edges. Personally, I run a hard line on a radius whenever I can.

To build mil thickness I will spray one batch over the area I need to cover the most (catalyzed with no wax) and then a second batch catalyzed with regular patch aid and run my blend area with my second batch. I tend to avoid any and all speed patch aid (wax additive) due to halo effect or they can cause the repair to be visible within months.
