I have to announce that unfortunatly the 2024 Straightline Showdown has been canceled. Due to some very sad medical situations my family is facing, I have no choice but to cancel the event. I have called each registered driver and spoke to them personally to explain the situation. I am truly sorry for this situation and ask for everyones understanding.

We hope everyone had a great weekend and had a chance to do some racing. I wanted to post some throwback pics of previous years of the Showdown and give a little clarity on this years rules for the Showdown. We will be allowing all tire prep for the Showdown as well as heating of tires post tech. We will offer a tape area as well as a area with no tape on the start line, it will be your choice of what area you use.
Racers who have paid their $25 deposit by July 1 will receive an event T shirt included with your entry. Registration is open at www.straightlineshowdown.com
We look forward to having another great event at the Legendary Great Lakes Dragaway on the purpose built RC Drag Strip.

partial track fee payment of $25 is due at registration.
We have also worked out a deal with the Holiday Inn in Mount Pleasant for a discounted rate of $134 a night. Link is on the event tab of the website. We are looking forward to seeing all our friends back at the showdown.

Hello to all our Straightline showdown family of racers.

Summer time is here and that means it is time to prepare for one of the biggest and best Drag Races in the country. Great Lakes Dragaway is our home for the Showdown and last year they gave us 500 feet of our own drag strip and we saw some of the fastest passes ever in our world of racing. After a season of racing and GLD working the track this spring to season it and get it ready for racing, we are going to go even faster this year.

This years event is August 2-4 2024. We will run 2 classes, Outlaw and Dry Tire Outlaw, both classes will have an A & B Group. Entries open on June 18th at 7pm ct. You will need to make a Track fee deposit of $25 upon registration, so you will need to have a Pay Pal account to sign up. Entry included an event T Shirt and custom name badge.
Track fee for racers is $80. $25 is due at registration and the balance of $55 will be due in cash at the event. Entry fee money that goes to the prize pool is $100 for each group of Outlaw. For Dry Tire Outlaw it is $100 for both groups. This will be due in cash at the event.
We will continue our tradition of paying the top 16 in the Outlaw class and top 8 in Dry Tire Outlaw.

This year a special offer for families, GLD is offering a family event pass for admission for those not racing for $25. This is good for 1-4 persons. This MUST be pre purchased off our event website BEFORE YOU ARRIVE. At the gate, it will cost more for admission. These will go on sale on June 18th when registration opens and the Spectator Passes will be on sale till July 28th.

2023 SLS - Last Race of the Weekend

It was an amazing moment when David Taylor took the Outlaw overall win. With the whole weekend culminating to this very moment, the tension between both drivers Josh Cyrul and David Taylor was so thick you could cut it with a knife. This whole weekend, it was great to see the good sportsmanship amongst all the drivers including the final race of the weekend. After the win, both drivers ended it with a hug and a fist bump. Congrats to David Taylor and all the driver this weekend for giving us a great show!
