Yesterday's mission: retrieve a 30ish year old snowmobile from Lake Winnipesaukee, in Tuftonboro, NH. Knowing how warm it has been, with recent heavy rainfall, I knew this would not be an easy one. But as our customer stated, "Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope." And just like that, we were in. Fortunately, I was able to enlist the help of my eager (haha) son, Aiden for backup. With a very tight schedule that day, we wasted no time getting on the road.
We had experiences last year with multiple snowmobiles in slush that were quite challenging, so this one gave me flashbacks, and concern. I brought snow shoes along with extra recovery gear that might be needed.
Once hitting the lake, we drove through extremely soft, deep slushy terrain, until we reached the disabled snowmobile. We loaded and strapped it down very quickly, met with the customer, then proceeded back toward shore.
Now comes the challenges. Pulling all that weight, and taking on ALOT more as slush built up on the sled and toboggan, and the ski turning to drag and spray even harder, it slowed me down drastically. That Polaris Titan 850 earned every dollar I paid for it that day, never letting the slush or weight stop us. It pulled like a freight train, never quitting. It successfully got me off the lake safely, and I remembered why I insist on the big motor every time.
We made great time, and avoided any problems by having the right equipment such as the Titan, and the Karyon toboggan that distributed the weight of the machine and reduced drag, increased flotation over slush, and made the recovery possible. We sell these toboggans if it sounds like something that would help you, too.
Another successful recovery, and happy customer! Thanks again sir for your kind review!
