Before you hit the water this weekend, take a moment to go through our Positive Boating Checklist to help make your trip safe, smooth, and full of great memories:

✅ LIFE JACKET – Always wear one! Even strong swimmers can be thrown from a boat or become disoriented in an emergency. Life jackets save lives—period.
✅ ENGINE CUT-OFF SWITCH – Prevent accidents if the operator is thrown from the boat.
✅ PACK ALL REQUIRED SAFETY GEAR – Flares, fire extinguisher, whistle/horn, navigation lights, and a first-aid kit.
✅ TAKE A SAFE BOATING COURSE – Knowledge is power. Know the rules of the water and how to react in emergencies.
✅ FILE A FLOAT PLAN – Let someone know where you're going and when you plan to return.
✅ CHECK THE WEATHER – Storms can roll in quickly. Don’t get caught off guard.
