I’m sitting here drinking my coffee thinking about everything we’ve taken on this year, and I just wanna be honest with y’all about where the shop is right now. This entire year has felt like a dead sprint. I’ve tried to help as many people as I possibly can because I genuinely feel like if I can help, I should. But somewhere along the way, trying to help everybody turned into taking on more than a two man shop can realistically handle especially when one of those two is still an apprentice tech learning the trade.
The calls, emails and people stopping by just keep increasing, and it’s got to a point where it feels like we’re expected to operate like a big Harley dealership. And straight up we just ain’t that. We’re a small specialty shop and if we keep going like this, something has to give. I've struggled with this decision for a while because while I really don't want to turn anyone away, I owe my full attention to the person paying me their hard earned money to work on the bike that's on my lift.
So effective immediately, our books are closed through September while we work through the bikes already here and the long list of people still waiting on us.
The shop will only be open to the public on Saturdays from 9 to 2 for parts ordering, technical questions or whatever else you need to stop in about. The rest of the week we’ve gotta keep the doors closed put our heads down and get some work done without being pulled away every few minutes.

Once we get through this backlog I’ll always keep one lift open for scheduled full services and tires, and another open for repair work. We’re absolutely not abandoning our regular service customers. If you’ve ever talked bikes with me, you already know how serious I am about keeping these things properly serviced.
But I’ve also had to remind myself why I started King City Choppers in the first place. I didn’t start this shop just to get completely buried in high volume repair work that everybody expects to be rushed through. I started it to offer dedicated, high quality work. Performance and chassis upgrades, restorations, custom builds, parts fabrication the kind of stuff that deserves real time and attention.
That’s what this shop was always supposed to be.
So no we ain’t quitting on anybody and we ain’t closing our doors. We’re just narrowing our focus, getting our workflow under control, expanding our services, increasing quality and building something that a small team can actually sustain.
I appreciate the hell out of everybody who has supported us and trusted us with their bikes. We’re working hard to take care of everybody already waiting on us, and I really do believe this is gonna help us serve people way better moving forward. Sometimes you’ve gotta slow down long enough to make sure you’re still headed where you meant to go and that’s exactly what we’re doing.
