First: stay calm.

Our accident checklist recommends checking for injuries and calling 911 for an ambulance when needed. Turn on your hazard lights and, if you’re blocking traffic and can safely do so, move to the side of the road or another safer location.

Document what happened.

Take photos.

Exchange necessary information.

And remember: you have the right to choose your collision repair shop.
