We would like to extend sincere thanks to Mike Ward for generously donating this remarkable framed 1951 Mobiloil Arizona Roadmap to Frontier Station.

The year 1951 is especially meaningful to Truxton when it emerged along Route 66, with gas stations, cafes, and motels built to welcome travelers crossing the Mother Road. By 1981, the final Interstate 40 bypass was completed, diverting traffic far away from this section of Route 66. Businesses closed one by one until 2012, when the last remaining motel and café shut their doors, and Truxton faded off the maps.

Today, Truxton is not an incorporated town, village, or city. It is classified only as a Census Designated Place (CDP), it does not even have its own ZIP code. Officially, residents' addresses belong to Peach Springs or Valentine. In many ways, Truxton exists more in memory than on paper.

The stories, photographs, buildings, and artifacts that remain keep its history alive. This 1951 roadmap is more than a map—it is a snapshot of the moment when Truxton was coming to life, and a reminder of the travelers, families, and businesses that made this stretch of Route 66 special.

Thank you, Mike, for helping preserve a piece of that history for future generations.

We got a Red Flag notice Saturday morning (Wind and Dust!) and considered canceling roadside breakfast, but we cooked inside the garage instead and it was fine. Afterwards Mike and Shawn delivered this beauty!! We love the real patina, we plan to give it a new architectural life and purpose here, but this one will never be restored, we love it.

I’m taking suggestions for breakfasts starting with Bacon Pancakes on the 27th at 9:00am!

A lot of people have been asking if we have passport stamps, we won’t be keeping hours anytime soon, but I put a few “stamp” stickers outside for now. If you are stopping in Valentine/Truxton feel free to help yourself!

“Lord, thank You for safe travels that brought us here and for the roads ahead. As travelers and friends gather around this table, may this place be one of welcome, kindness, and fellowship. Amen.”

🍳Good morning Truxton! It’s going to be a beautiful day and we will be outside at 9:00 giving away breakfast until gone. The menu is always the same, I roast a pork shoulder in cast iron overnight and we eat it with fresh eggs and hash we make outside on the griddle.

⛽️We sit around a formerly abandoned gas station, we grill, we eat, we talk and see who (or what) pulls up. That’s it!

🌭July 4th - 5PM - Potluck. We will make hotdogs and hamburgers and bbq sides. BYOB

We want to give another big THANK YOU to Sandra Lasiloo for your help last weekend which included baking, decorating, and delivering almost 100 cupcakes for the party that tasted GREAT too! She helped me set up and even helped serve food, in addition to her own booths where they had jewelry, natural health products and custom engraving - this lady does it all and I would recommend her to anyone. We appreciate you and hope you’ll come back for Fun Run 2027!

He doesn’t ask for recognition, but everything good that happens Scott is in the background doing the hard work. Like his father and grandfather he started in a garage, got certifications in auto repair, then moved into commercial driving. He received every endorsement, and then became certified in both propane and water operations - he travels AZ, CA, and NV for work, then comes here and works on starting his family business. Every bad situation, accidents, power outages, snowstorms, he is out cleaning up highways and restoring services. When I suffered a brain injury, he was my caregiver for many years. He handles emergencies, fixes mistakes and makes holidays special. He goes out of his way every day for other people at a great cost to his own needs. He truly serves God, family and community every day, and we are so grateful to go on this journey with him!

Of course Scott did a fantastic job roasting the pigs for Fun Run weekend! Hosting events might be something we want to do more of, and we are actively planning for an outdoor kitchen or chuck wagon and pole barn where we can enjoy more outdoor cooking and entertaining. This area will become an amenity for the RV spaces as well.

First things first, very soon we will be ripping out walls and using a crane to hoist in the cast iron bathtub and run new septic lines and create a REAL bathroom here, sorry to anyone we sent away over the weekend - NEXT year you can use the bathroom 🤣 - Leia

As we prepare for our first event tomorrow, I just wanted to take a minute and tell everybody THANK YOU for your support. Our community is amazing and in the last few months people have really showed up, donating money, art, antiques, memorabilia, and the most valuable of all - their time and support. There are some things money can’t buy and we have that here ❤️
Thank you, The Clarks and Frontier Station
