Your spare tire might sit untouched for months or even years, but that doesn’t mean it’s holding the proper air pressure.

2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack — Leak Repairs + 60K Drivetrain Maintenance 🔧🇩🇪

This Golf Alltrack originally went to the dealer for an inspection, where they identified an engine oil leak from the lower oil pan area, upper timing cover, and oil level sender gasket.

After inspecting the vehicle ourselves, we agreed with the leak locations—but recommended going one step further on the lower oil pan. Since the factory pan is plastic, simply resealing an older pan isn’t always the best long-term repair. These pans commonly distort/warp with age and heat, so we recommended replacing the lower oil pan assembly along with the gasket and required hardware rather than taking the chance of resealing a compromised pan.

While the vehicle was here, we also addressed its drivetrain maintenance as it approaches 60,000 miles, including:

* Transmission fluid service
* Transfer case fluid service
* Rear differential fluid service
* Lower oil pan assembly + gasket
* Upper timing cover reseal
* Engine oil level sender gasket

All repairs and maintenance were completed using genuine/authorized Volkswagen parts and proper-spec fluids, with the entire repair plan coming in at under $2,700.

Preventative maintenance and properly addressing leaks the first time can go a long way toward keeping a Volkswagen AWD drivetrain reliable for years to come.

Automotive fluid prices are already rising — and it may get worse.

Engine oil, transmission fluid, differential fluid, transfer case fluid, coolant, brake fluid, and other automotive products are all being affected by higher supply, manufacturing, and transportation costs.

Our advice: don’t panic, but don’t ignore your maintenance either.

Putting off a fluid service to save money today can lead to repairs costing thousands later.

Know what your vehicle needs. Plan ahead. Maintain it properly.

Maintenance may get more expensive. Neglect will always cost more.

2023 Range Rover SE 🔥

This beautifully redesigned Range Rover came in for a routine LOF service, coming in just under $190.

During the inspection, we also recommended four new 275/50R21 tires. A set in this size can get expensive quickly, but we were able to quote a full set of Michelin tires for under $1,850.

Luxury ownership is expensive enough. Good maintenance should still make sense.

Two completely different cars. Two completely different situations. Same process: inspect, diagnose, communicate, and let the customer decide. 🔧

In this video, I go over two recent vehicles — what they came in for, what we found, what was recommended, and what the customers ultimately chose to do.

One of them was a Jaguar F-Type with a check engine light. Phase 1 diagnosis gave us direction, but properly moving into Phase 2 meant getting deeper into the vehicle and removing major components to access and test the suspected issue. The customer decided to pause there — and we completely understand. Removing the intake/supercharger assembly on an F-Type is no small job.

That’s why we break diagnosis into phases. You’re not blindly authorizing thousands of dollars worth of work. We gather information, explain what the next step requires, give you the cost, and you make the call.

Not every visit ends with every recommendation being completed — and that’s okay.

Our job is to give you the clearest picture possible so you can make an informed decision about your vehicle.

One of my biggest automotive pet peeves 😂

Seeing a quick-lube oil change sticker on a Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche… you get the idea.

Today’s example: a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 with a Jiffy L**e sticker on the windshield. 😭

I say this with a smile: if you’re going to buy the car, make sure you’re prepared to maintain the car.

European vehicles aren’t necessarily unreliable — but they DO appreciate the correct fluids, correct filters, proper procedures, and technicians who actually know what they’re working on.
