🚦 Most intersection crashes aren't caused by bad luck—they're caused by a split-second decision.
It's easy to think, "I can make this light." But that decision can have lifelong consequences.
National Stop on Red Week was inspired by a tragedy here in Florida. National Coalition for Safer Roads Founder, Melissa Wandall, lost her husband, Mark, when another driver ran a red light while he was driving home from getting food with Melissa's brother. Melissa was 9 months pregnant. Instead of letting that moment define her family, she turned it into a mission to educate drivers and improve roadway safety.
Every time you approach an intersection, remember:
🟡 A yellow light is your cue to proceed with caution and prepare for the light to change—not an invitation to rush through the intersection.
👀 Even when your light turns green, take a quick look left, right, and left again before moving forward.
📵 Eliminate distractions so you're ready to react to the unexpected.
❤️ Those few extra seconds aren't worth risking a lifetime of consequences.
At Nations Traffic Safety School, we remind our students that safe driving isn't about being perfect—it's about making one good decision after another.
This week, let's all commit to slowing down, stopping on red, and helping everyone get home safely.
